Compared to Wuzhen‼️ I have a deeper affection for this ancient town in Shanghai that doesn't require an entrance fee.|| Wuzhen is indeed beautiful, but it has a stronger commercial atmosphere. In contrast, I prefer Zhujiajiao Ancient Town in Shanghai, whose scenery is no less stunning than Wuzhen's, yet it has a more authentic living atmosphere: potted plants at the street corners, smoke from the rooftops, clothes drying on the balconies, and delicious street food... No wonder locals from Shanghai also come here often to visit!

➡️My travel route:
Starting from Entrance 1 of Zhujiajiao Ancient Town》Kezhiyuan》Hexinyuan》Fangsheng Bridge》Taian Bridge》Yuanjin Zen Monastery》North Street》Lang Bridge》Zhujiajiao Chenghuang Temple》Zhujiajiao Daqing Post Office
Just taking photos along the way and strolling and eating at will, that's roughly the casual route I took.
1️⃣Kezhiyuan, originally the private garden of Ma Wenqing, also known as 'Ma's Garden', where you can enjoy the landscape of Jiangnan gardens.
2️⃣Hexinyuan, also a garden-style architecture, slightly smaller than Kezhiyuan, but the scenery is equally impressive.
3️⃣Fangsheng Bridge, the 'longest', tallest, and largest five-arched bridge in Shanghai, where a life-release ceremony is held under the bridge on the first and fifteenth days of the lunar month.
4️⃣Taian Bridge, the steepest single-arch bridge in the ancient town.
5️⃣Yuanjin Zen Monastery, originally enshrined the image of the Chen State Holy Mother, commonly known as the 'Goddess Temple'. Climbing the bell tower offers a view of Zhujiajiao Ancient Town.
6️⃣North Street, the busiest street in the town, with various art shops and food stores, including Handalong Soy Garden.
7️⃣Lang Bridge, this is the iconic building of the ancient water towns in the Jiangnan area.
8️⃣Zhujiajiao Chenghuang Temple, the temple enshrines the City God Lord and his wife.
9️⃣Zhujiajiao Daqing Post Office, established in 1903, where you can buy figurines and get stamps.
‼️【Hand-rowed Boat】There are several boat piers in the ancient town,
‼️【Zhujiajiao Ancient Town Delicacies】
For Shanghainese, childhood delicacies include the presence of Zhujiajiao, such as ginkgo tree grandma's rice dumplings, Handalong Soy Garden, tied meat, snails, fermented rice, mung bean cake, and so on...
The garden was built in 1912 and took 15 years to build. It was a private mansion of the local giant Ma Wenqing. The design structure and the decorative materials used in this garden are many in the form of a combination of Chinese and Western, which is a feature of the garden.
The class planting garden located on Xijing Street, the north of Zhujiajiao is the largest manor-style garden building in the town. The central hanging of the living room is "the lesson of the book learning thousands of knowledge, the rice and wheat farming nine more than three". This "class planting", which reflects the name of the manor, and also places the high hopes of the garden owner Ma Wenqing for future generations. In the garden, move the scene, let people linger!
Zhujiajiao Ancient Town has also come several times, the first time I came to the class planting garden. The name means "after reading class, don't forget to cultivate and plant". Located at the northern end of Zhujiajiao Ancient Town. The owner of the manor is called Ma Wenqing, and he is also a great rich generation. He will build a garden in the Qing future. The garden not only has the beauty of rockery and flowing water of the Jiangsu-style garden, but also incorporates some elements of the Western Ocean, which was a relatively trendy design at the time. The guide introduced that the current area was only one-third of the garden at that time, which shows the owner's wealth at that time.
There are quite a lot of people on a hot day. Entering Qushui Garden, the pair of panyu trees in front of the hall are like two beautiful girls standing in front of the hall. The tree crown is beautifully rounded and drooping. These days, as the temperature drops, the leaves start to yellow slightly, so that the charm of autumn will first appear. Along the way to the west of Sisha Road, Xujing Town, Qingpu District, you can see Sisha Forestland Park, which contains fitness trails, forestland incubation, refute shore transformation, forestland supporting facilities, etc., involving about 57 mu of forestland. At present, street lights, green plants, trails and other projects have been completed, and the rest of the supporting facilities such as public toilets and door guard rooms are also about to be completed. For details, see ↓ The forest land was originally based on aromatherapy trees, and the planting was more messy. In this regard, the relevant horticultural department first regulated it, and then introduced deciduous plants such as Natalie, seagulls, red plums, and other plants to create a different style in four seasons.
The garden is located in Zhujiajiao, Shanghai, with a quiet environment and unique scenery. It is the largest manor-style garden building in the town. The original owner, Ma Wenqing, is commonly known as the "Majia Garden". The garden name is designated as "class planting", which means "after class reading, do not forget to cultivate planting", and the garden has both a book city and a Daoxiang village, in the name of the garden.
