Shanghai | Holy Trinity Church, the red church is super suitable for taking pictures
🚗 Holy Trinity Church, located at No. 219 Jiujiang Road, Huangpu District, Shanghai, was founded in the fifth year of Tongzhi in the Qing Dynasty (1866). The interior and exterior of the Holy Trinity Church are all clear water red brick walls, hence the common name "Red Church". It covers an area of 3500 square meters and a building area of 2587 square meters. The plane is Latin cross-shaped, the facade adopts a high-middle and low-side composition, divided into three sections by three continuous arch colonnades, pointed arch doors and windows, the top is decorated with "round collar" ceiling, and the roof frame structure is exposed. The original outdoor aisle has been filled in, and the bell tower was destroyed in 1966.
🚗 After 1966, the lawn of the Holy Trinity Church was rebuilt into a street heart garden, isolated from the church, and became an important public activity space in the early modern Bund area. In the 1950s, the Holy Trinity Church served as the cathedral of the Anglican Church of China, and the church ceremony still used the Anglican tradition. In nearly a hundred years, the Holy Trinity Church was only for the Anglican overseas Chinese worship, and non-Anglican foreigners had to worship at the Tianan Church. It was not until the 26th year of the Republic of China (1937) that St. Paul's Church in Zhabei was bombed in the Songhu Battle, and Chinese believers were allowed to borrow this church for worship. The Holy Trinity Church also changed from an overseas Chinese church to a city public church. In the first year of Guangxu in the Qing Dynasty (1875), Queen Victoria of the United Kingdom promoted the Holy Trinity Church to the cathedral of the Anglican North China Diocese, also known as "Anligan Cathedral", supervised by the Archbishop of Canterbury.
🚗 It's very close to the Bund, and I also recommend everyone to take a look if you have time. The location in the city center is contrasted with the surrounding century-old buildings, and it is quite a scene. The interior decoration is not as gorgeous as the European cathedrals, but it is a good choice for taking pictures. If you are a believer, you must come to visit. This is the location of the Shanghai Christian Church. If you are not a believer, it is quite good to stroll around.
I still saw the circle of friends and found out that there was such a church near Nanjing East Road. Although it is located in a prime location, the Jiujiang Road Jiangxi Middle Road where the church is located is quiet. Unfortunately, the church can not enter, can only take a few photos through the iron gate, golden ginkgo leaves with red buildings are very beautiful.
Trinity Church in Huangpu District, the earliest existing Christian Church in Shanghai, the appearance is neo-Gothic, red brick masonry, and the left is a towering clock tower, which was once the commanding heights and the most eye-catching coordinates of Shanghai! Once the English Anglican Cathedral in the Far East Shanghai area of the Church of England, it is only open to churches on Sunday! Two centuries-old ginkgo trees have covered the sky.
Trinity is a church dedicated to the Anglican community of the British diaspora. A small church was built in 1847. After the original church was in disrepair, the cathedral was rebuilt from 1866 to 1869 with the design of reference architect George Gilbert Scott (George Gilbert Scott 1811-1878), which was neo-Gothic and was the largest and most gorgeous Christian church in Shanghai in the early days. In 1875 the church was upgraded to the Anglican Diocese of North China, and in 1893 the towering bell tower was built on the left side of the church
Brush to Holy Trinity Christian Church is open again! Get up early on Sunday and visit. There are currently two Sunday morning services, don't be late. The Holy Trinity Christian Church is a red brick wall with clear water inside and outside, so it is commonly known as the "Red Chapel". During the service, you can listen to the Trinity Choir singing, organ playing, as well as the priest's ceremony, the priest's testimony, and lead you to sing the hymns. It is a wonderful experience for more than an hour.
Dust sealed for 60 years and finally opened, beautiful, praise
A typical gothic building, like a christian church.
