Bitahai Lake

The Bita Sea is located in the hinterland of Shangri-La. It is a summer place for the Naxi Mutian King of the Ming Dynasty. It is also mentioned in King Gesar's ancestral passage. Bitahai Nature Reserve is located in the east of Zhongdian County in northwest Yunnan Province, 25 kilometers away from the county seat. Bita Haisu is known as the Pearl of the Plateau, the lake is 3538 meters above sea level, and it is the highest lake in Yunnan Province. Historically, it was a submerged depression, and the Quaternary period formed the current plateau with the strong uplift of the Tibetan plateau.
