Exploring the park on one of the four walking trails lets you see even more animals not visible from the tram. Among them are the Fishing Cat Trail that recreates a nighttime trek through the jungles of Singapore, and the popular Leopard Trail, which features the largest collection of wildlife indigenous to Southeast Asia. The concept of a nocturnal park in Singapore was suggested in the 1980s by the former executive chairman of the Singapore Zoo, Dr Ong Swee Law. Constructed at a cost of S$63 million, the Night Safari was officially opened on 26 May 1994.
The Night Safari, Singapore is the world's first nocturnal zoo located in Mandai, Singapore. One of the most popular tourist attractions in the country, it forms a part of the Mandai Wildlife Reserve.
The night zoo is a great experience. You get to see some of the animals in a twilight scenario. It’s best to go out early at dusk although it’s very sympathetically back lit for the later train ride. After the train ride you can then walk around some of the route giving you a different perspective on the whole evening.
