the Shrine of Our Lady of Tears

From August 29 to September 1, 1953, a statue of the Virgin in Syracuse, S. Lucia, shed tears at regular intervals, just like human tears. So in 1966, such a church of Our Lady of Tears was built here to commemorate her. The shape of the church is very eye-catching, standing on the ground like a wizard's high hat. The statue of the Virgin is now placed in the middle of the basilica, surrounded by golden conditions, with walls and flowerbeds of precious marble. The statue of the Virgin wears a crown, which is solemn and noble. The statue of the Virgin is not fixed on display because of its preciousness, but her tears are still sealed in the church for viewing.
