One of the three ancient monuments in Japan

    Original Text

A stone monument made to commemorate Shuzo Tagajo. The names of historical figures who were active in Mutsu during the Nara period are engraved, and it seems that it includes contents that are not written in the regular history. I thought that the historical value was high when I thought that the history of the old days far from such historic sites would be clarified little by little.

    Original Text

There is a small hall-like building on the hill on the south side of the Tagajo Government Office, and there is a Tagajo monument in it. Originally, it was built in 762 to commemorate the construction of taga Jo castle, and it seems that it has been preserved in a cover shop since it was excavated in the Edo period. Original Text

It is built in the Taga Castle Monument cover shop, which is a few minutes walk from the south gate of Taga Castle. This monument was discovered in the Edo period and has come to be called under the name of Utamakura "Tsubo Monument / Tsubo no Ishibumi". The haiku poet Basho Matsuo also wrote in "Okunohosodo" the impression he met when he visited this monument.
