Tengchong Dongshan Grassland Attraction is located in the east of Tengchong City, 8 kilometers away from the urban area. It is mainly a high mountain grassland landscape, covering an area of ​​about 20,000 mu, with an altitude of up to 2,373 meters, an average annual temperature of 14.9℃, and an average content of negative oxygen ions of 3,827 per cubic centimeter. It is known as a "natural oxygen bar". The "Tengyue Hall Chronicle" describes the secret realm of Dongshan as "peaks and mountains stand out, with a pool on the top, ancient pine and fir trees beside the pool, surrounded by lush greenery, mountains and grass, green and beautiful, every time the setting sun enters the mountain, the mountain contains half a corner of the sunset, reflecting the remaining light of three poles."

The famous geographer and traveler Xu Xiake stopped here twice and praised it: "Looking down, the valley is deep, and the middle is as flat as a whetstone, with good fields and distant villages reflected in between. The valley is large and round, surrounded by small hills on all sides, unlike other rivers that form gorges along the stream."

More than 500 years ago, Wang Ji, the Minister of War of the Ming Dynasty, led three expeditions to Luchuan. Dongshan became a special ranch for grazing war horses on expeditions. Officials organized Souvenir villages to jointly manage the ranch, and the Dongshan Ranch has continued to this day.
