Monument to Abraham Lincoln

After visiting the Tijuana Culture Center, we started walking towards the Avenida Revolución and managed to get lost. Found a traffic circle with a huge statue of Abraham Lincoln in the middle of it. Was trying to figure out why a statue of Abraham Lincoln is in Tijuana. Stopped at shop across the street from the circle to purchase water and I asked the vendor if he had any ideas why Lincoln is honored with a statue in Tijuana. He advised us that Mexican President Benito Juarez and Abraham Lincoln had a strong relationship. Lincoln opposed the Mexican-American War and European expansionism into Mexico during the 1850-1860's. I learned a lot listening to the vendor telling us about Mexican - US history from a different point of view. Anyhow it an interesting statue. Took several photos of Abe and continue on our way. We did fine the Avenida Revolucion eventually. Catution: If you attempt to get to the circle, watch the traffic
