Jinquan Temple is located in the southern part of Weifang City, Shandong Province, adjacent to the upper reaches of the Bailang River that runs through the center of Weifang City, close to Weifang Bailang Oasis National Wetland Park, a place with good water resources, and Weifang Car Street. The temple covers an area of about 30 acres, and the main buildings include the Heavenly King Hall, the Great Hall, the Guanyin Hall, the Sutra Library, the Zen Hall, the Ksitigarbha Hall and other halls.
First built in 629 AD, Jinquan Temple has a long history. According to historical data, it was first built in the third year of Zhenguan (629 AD) and burned down during the Yuan Dynasty. In the second year of Yongle in the Ming Dynasty (1404), the court assigned four centurions, Cui, Jiang, Tang, and Tian, to lead troops to the south of Weixian City to cultivate land. While cultivating land and ensuring military supplies, the officers and soldiers rebuilt the Guanyin Temple, which is the predecessor of Jinquan Temple. In the 30th year of Qianlong (1775), a comprehensive reconstruction was carried out. After repeated wars, it gradually became depressed and dilapidated, and was finally destroyed in the 1960s.
