起义门位于楚望台军械库遗址公园内，属于楚望台的核心景观区域。起义门古称中和门，是楚望台军械库的标志，占领中和门也就是占领当时南方这座最大的军械库了。占领楚望台让起义军的革命党人拥有了全副武装得到了重火力支援，让武昌首义顺利进行完毕，因此起义门显得尤为重要。随着大革命时期，广州国民政府迁都武汉，城市发展加快起义门被拆除。后在新中国成立以后进行修复，然后随着发现城墙残骸，因此又复原了一段城墙，现在看起来一座现代化都市配合上这等古色古香又有历史厚重感的城墙是不容易的。起义门不能算是正式景点，因为作为遗址公园的一部分它是免费向公众开放的。但是每一个喜欢辛亥革命事件的人是不会错过的吧。

最近去了起义门，这么多年住在附近居然没去过，修成了公园，挺不错的
