York City Walls

George VI once said proudly that "the history of York is the history of England." Located on the banks of the River Us in north-east England, York is the second largest tourist city in England, with outstanding architecture and 2,000-year history blended with thriving commercial streets, with more than 30 museums and galleries in the city centre. Here you can stay away from the hustle and bustle of the city and enjoy the leisure and tranquility of the British town.

It was nice to be able to see the panoramic view of York city while walking along the walls.

There is a round arched entrance at the gate that says the entrance to the York City Wall, no charge. The city wall is centered on York Cathedral ⛪️, we have probably spent an hour around the city wall, and after going up, we have to go all the way to the end, we can go down, it takes a little physical strength, if there are young children, we will know it clearly. The road along the city wall is a little narrow, and if someone comes on, you must make way before you can continue. But the scenery on the city wall is very beautiful, and it is more beautiful like a fairy tale. The York wall, which has existed since Roman times, is still quite intact, and such a powerful historical monument must of course step on it!

York city walls is the first place we visited in our York trip. Built by the Romans in medieval period, this structure still stays so strong and rigid. This 2 miles long structure is the longest city wall of England.

我们在约克本来就只停留两晚，由于火车晚点，我们只能把有限的时间留给了城市内参观。约克保留了大量的古代建筑，比如约克城墙，这些是罗马人统治时期建造的长达5公里的正方形城墙，其中心是约克大教堂，在旧城墙上走一段，是一般约克旅行都会去做的，在城墙上可以欣赏约克的风景，尤其是威武庄严的约克大教堂。这天的天气非常好，蓝天白云，非常适合户外走走，就是约克的风实在太大，吹得有点脑袋疼。
