Datong Street

Datong Street is the most representative commercial old street in Chikan Commercial Building. In the old street less than 200 meters long and only more than 5 meters wide, you can still see the old blue stone paved road, the shops built in the Qing Dynasty and the ancient pier site of the ladder-stepped pier leading to the bay. The reason why Datong Street became the earliest commercial old street in Chikan is mainly because of its unique geographical location. There are six of the ten ancient pier sites in Chikan Shangyu. The current northwest starting point is the earliest "old ferry".

Chikan Datong Street is one of the oldest commercial streets in Zhanjiang. It is connected to the ancient Du Street, the oldest street in Zhanjiang, Guangdong Province. It is a precious "fossil" that witness the vicissitudes of ancient business in Chikan District. You must come to Datong Street to see the scenery of Chikan in the past.

Datong Street is the core street of Chikan Old Town, and it was once one of the most developed areas of Zhanjiang commerce and trade. Chikan District was originally just an ancient merchant Xiaoyu by the sea, which was formed as early as the Song Dynasty. Since Qing Kangxi's year, after the removal of the sea ban for more than 200 years, maritime commerce and trade have developed rapidly. Anhui, Zhejiang, Guangchao, Qiongya merchants have gone from the sea to Chikan to do business, and merchants in Gaolei have also gone from land to trade, and Chikan has gradually formed a prosperous business.
