The Yerevan Cascade is a landmark in Armenia's capital, Yerevan, and a classic example of Soviet-era architectural aesthetics. However, its construction was halted due to a lack of funding after the collapse of the Soviet Union, leaving it unfinished. Today, the upper part is being completed with donations from an Armenian-American businessman. From this vantage point, one of the highest in Yerevan, you can take in a panoramic view of the entire city. On a clear day, you can even capture a photo of Mount Ararat, the biblical resting place of Noah's Ark. Although this sacred mountain is now part of Türkiye's territory, its majestic, cloud-veiled snow-capped peak remains as captivating as ever. During the day, escalators are available for easy access up and down the Cascade. At night, the structure is beautifully illuminated, creating a magical atmosphere. The square in front of the Cascade features a variety of sculptures, including works by Chinese artists. Lined with charming bistros, the square is the perfect spot to enjoy the evening breeze and a drink for a relaxing and romantic experience, if your travel schedule allows. Light and Shadow Tour of the Cascade Complex

Garni Temple sits about 30 km east of Yerevan, Armenia’s capital, and is a rare remnant of a Greco-Roman classical temple. Built around the 1st century AD by order of King Tiridates I of Armenia, it is said to have been constructed by craftsmen who returned with the king from Rome and was originally a Zoroastrian temple dedicated to the sun god Mihr. The temple follows the Ionic order, with 24 stone columns, each about 6.54 m tall, symbolizing the 24 hours of the day. The interior is small, holding only about 20 people, and locals still play the traditional duduk there. In the 4th century, when Christianity became the state religion, the temple was spared through royal intervention and turned into a summer residence. It was destroyed by an earthquake in 1679, then rebuilt to its original appearance in 1969–1975 with Soviet support under architect Alexander Sahinyan. Many original stones were reused, and new sections were clearly distinguished with light gray stone.

Beside the temple are the remains of a Roman bathhouse, whose floor preserves a famous Greek mosaic inscription: "We work, yet get nothing."

Today, the temple is a key spiritual site for Armenia’s native faith, Hetanism, and hosts ancient rituals such as the Vahagn festival each year.
