History Museum — traveler post in Bontida

History Museum

#summervacay In 1747–1751, Count Dénes Bánffy IV commissioned Austrian Baroque renovations: a U‑shaped cour d’honneur, riding school, stables, and an extensive park with statues inspired by Roman mythology, designed by Johann Nachtigall and landscape architect Johann Christian Erras . The 19th century saw further changes: the gate tower was demolished in the 1820s and its stones reused as a village mill; the park was redesigned in the Romantic English style; and a new wing was added under Anton Kagerbauer . #travel #museums #citydaytours #myitinerary

Banffy Castle, Romania | Experience the Unique Charm of Medieval Architecture — traveler post in Bontida

Banffy Castle, Romania | Experience the Unique Charm of Medieval Architecture

💖Banffy Castle in Romania is located in a very unique place, on top of a hill, surrounded by quiet villages. When you stand there, you will feel like a noble giant standing in the air. The height of the castle gives it an excellent view, overlooking the Orcia and Ombrone valleys, like a watchman, controlling the traffic between Siena, Mount Amiata, and Maremma.🤩 🧐From a historical perspective, this castle is full of mystery. It first appeared in the literature in 1377, but according to some artifacts unearthed during recent restoration work, we can also speculate that it may have existed as early as the Etruscan era. In the past, it has witnessed many stories. In the 15th century, the brave Count Placidi was fortunate enough to live here. These noble warriors made outstanding contributions to Siena's resistance against Florence, so the castle became their reward. However, they were also expelled, but returned to the castle in 1529 and did not leave until 1949. Later, in 1949, the building was purchased by the Italian entrepreneur Giovanni Mastropaolo, who was very successful in Venezuela. During the first half of the 18th century, under the rule of the Habsburg-Lorraine dynasty, the castle had already become an agricultural enterprise.😉 😏When you arrive at the castle, you will see a very special courtyard. The courtyard is an irregular quadrilateral, surrounded on three sides by various buildings, and the fourth side is enclosed by a wall. Among them, the Honor Courtyard is an outstanding example of Renaissance architecture. The low octagonal column-style arches look very delicate; there is also a large fireplace that makes people feel the warmth of the past; the vault has a unique structure, and the decorative small windows are like bright eyes telling stories of the past; there is also a Medici coat of arms dating back to the 16th century, which was created after the fall of Montalcino, full of historical charm.👍 👀Walking into the castle is like entering a tunnel through time and space. Every corner retains traces of history, and the walls seem to still hold the words and figures of past residents. Walking here, you can feel the sediment of time and the weight of history. The scenery around the castle is also beautiful, with vineyards, forests, and olive groves along the hillside road, like a natural painting.😘 🤗If you are looking for a unique and meaningful travel destination, Banffy Castle in Romania is definitely your best choice. It allows you to enjoy the beautiful scenery while gaining an in-depth understanding of the rich history and culture.
