An Andaman Coastal City.
🇹🇭 : Trang 🌊🏝️🌿
A tranquil Andaman coastal city that boasts a more peaceful vibe than major tourist hubs. It offers a complete package of islands, crystal-clear waters, caves, local communities, and lush nature. With a coastline stretching roughly 199 kilometers and several standout islands, Trang is perfect for those seeking a laid-back southern beach getaway (Tourism Authority of Thailand).
📍 5 Must-Visit Spots
1. Koh Kradan 🏝️💙
A small island famous for its pristine white sands, clear waters, and vibrant coral reefs. It’s ideal for swimming, snorkeling, or simply enjoying a peaceful island retreat. You can get there from Pak Meng Pier or Khuan Tung Ku Pier (Tourism Authority of Thailand).
2. Koh Mook – Emerald Cave (Tham Morakot) 🌊🪨
One of the crown jewels of the Trang sea. Located on the west side of Koh Mook, you have to float through a dark cave passage to reach a hidden lagoon surrounded by towering limestone cliffs. For your safety, it’s highly recommended to go with a local guide or an experienced tour operator (Tourism Authority of Thailand).
3. Pak Meng Beach 🏖️🌅
A great mainland beach for chilling out, soaking up the sea breeze, and watching the sunset. At the northern end of the beach lies Pak Meng Pier, the main gateway for island-hopping trips to Koh Mook, Koh Kradan, Koh Chuek, and Koh Ngai (Tourism Authority of Thailand).
4. Koh Libong 🌿🐋
The largest island in the Trang sea. The island is surrounded by rich seagrass beds, which serve as a vital food source for the local dugong population. It’s a haven for nature lovers and those who want to immerse themselves in a genuine island community vibe rather than a rushed tourist trip (Tourism Authority of Thailand).
5. Le Khao Kob Cave 🛶🪨
A renowned cave in Huai Yot District where you take a rowboat through impressive caverns filled with stalactites and stalagmites. The absolute highlight is the thrilling final stretch where the ceiling gets so low that everyone must lie flat on their backs in the boat to squeeze out—an experience famously known as "passing through the dragon's belly" (Tourism Authority of Thailand).
🗓️ Quick Itinerary
DAY 1: Le Khao Kob Cave → Trang City Center → Sunset at Pak Meng Beach
DAY 2: Island Hopping: Koh Mook (Emerald Cave) → Koh Kradan
DAY 3: Relax at Koh Libong OR spend a chill day exploring local communities and street food in Trang City
💡 Got only 2 days and 1 night? We recommend sticking to the mainland and Pak Meng on Day 1, then going all-in on a full-day island-hopping trip on Day 2. This way, you won't waste time traveling back and forth to the islands.
⚠️ Update for August 2026: Please note that the tourist zones of Koh Mook and Koh Kradan within Hat Chao Mai National Park are closed for their annual seasonal rehabilitation from June 1 to September 30. The official closure for 2026 has already been announced by Trang provincial authorities. If you're visiting during this period, it's best to stick to mainland attractions and always double-check park announcements before planning any island trips (Tourism Authority of Thailand).
Generally, TAT recommends visiting Trang between December and May, with the peak Andaman tourist season kicking off around November (Tourism Authority of Thailand).
Trang’s true charm lies in its peacefulness—explore a cave in the morning, stroll along the beach in the afternoon, and hop on a boat to remote islands the next day 🌿🌊🏝️ It's the ultimate destination for those looking to experience the beauty of the South without the chaotic crowds.
