Libya 🇱🇾 Libya boasts world-class attractions, including the ancient city of Tripoli, Leptis Magna, Sabratha, and the Sahara Desert. However, for 2026, I wouldn't recommend planning a typical tourist trip there due to the uncertain safety situation. The US still designates the entire country as Level 4: Do Not Travel, while the FCDO recommends travel to Tripoli only in essential cases and warns against travel to most areas of the country.

📅 3-Day Plan — Keep this for when the situation improves

Day 1: Tripoli 🇱🇾
Explore the Old City of Tripoli, admiring the markets, mosques, and old city architecture. Visit the Arch of Marcus Aurelius.

Day 2: Leptis Magna 🏛️
One of the most important Roman cities in Africa, featuring the Forum, Theatre, Baths, and the Arch of Septimius Severus. Listed by UNESCO since 1982, it's currently on the List of World Heritage in Danger.

Day 3: Sabratha
An ancient Roman city on the Mediterranean coast. The theater and old city ruins are noteworthy, but this travel plan is not advisable given the current situation.

Currently, I do not recommend booking specific hotels for your vacation. If travel is necessary, it is best to have a company, organization, or contact in Libya arrange hotels with security and transportation.

🍴 Food to Try

Bazin – barley flour served with sauce and meat.
Libyan Couscous – local couscous.
Shorba – a soup made with meat, tomatoes, and spices.
Grilled lamb and mint tea are also common.
