The day before yesterday, we traveled from Milan to Bologna.
Just as we left the station, we heard a chorus of honking.
The whole street knew someone up ahead was getting impatient.
It turned out a Suzuki seemed to have been blocking the road for a while.
A Fiat behind it couldn't wait any longer.
I thought it was going to drive around.
A few people nearby also stopped to look over.
Instead, it drove straight into the Suzuki's open door.
A loud bang—clean and simple.
The air went quiet for a second.
Then things got lively.
The Fiat driver got out and started shouting loudly.
Shouting and gesturing wildly.
The Suzuki driver finally got out, too.
Grabbing his hair with both hands.
As if his brain was still stuck on that sound.
He shouted at the people on the sidewalk.
I think he meant something like:
"You all saw it, right?
This car hit mine.
You have to be my witnesses."
The Fiat driver was still yelling.
Yelling and yelling, then suddenly ran forward.
The Suzuki driver got nervous all of a sudden.
Thinking the other guy was going to run away.
But it turned out he was just going to find the police.
The Suzuki driver stood in front of his car, still looking shocked.
Gesturing in the air with both hands.
Still shouting something.
The people nearby didn't seem particularly surprised.
Watching and chatting,
as if this kind of little show happens every now and then.
We stood and watched for a while.
Then we continued walking into the city.
Not long after, Bologna transformed into something else entirely.
Red bricks, arcades, narrow streets.
It didn't have that feeling of being packed with tourists like Milan or Florence.
Just a moment ago, there was an argument.
Turn a corner, and people were already sitting under the arcades drinking coffee.
Well.
Italy really knows how to charm you.
Actually, this is my fourth time in Italy.
It really is a great place.
