🚂 EP.1 | Bernina Express — Switzerland 🇨🇭 A train journey from a glacier…to a town with palm trees 🌿🏔️ When it comes to scenic trains in Switzerland, the Bernina Express is a truly memorable route, as the scenery changes almost endlessly along the way. 🚆✨ The train travels from Chur, through the Alps to Tirano, Italy, covering approximately 144 km. A portion of the route is within the UNESCO World Heritage site of the Rhaetian Railway. Along the way, you'll see valleys, forests, waterfalls, glaciers, and mountain peaks over 4,000 meters high before the train ascends to Ospizio Bernina at 2,253 meters, the highest point of the route. 🏔️❄️ Highlights not to be missed include the Landwasser Viaduct, a high arched stone bridge that has become an iconic image of the route, and the Brusio Circular Viaduct, a circular arched bridge that the train must travel around to adjust to higher altitudes. 🚂 And what makes this route so special is… From snow-covered mountains ❄️ the train gradually descends through valleys until finally reaching Tirano in Italy, where the atmosphere is warmer and palm trees are abundant 🌴🇮🇹 It's like seeing multiple seasons in one trip! 📸✨ Information for 2026: The route has a total of 196 bridges and 55 tunnels, and the Bernina Express train has panoramic carriages specifically for sightseeing.
