🗺️ Exploring Manaus on Any Budget

Muscat is absolutely melting right now. My air conditioner is working overtime, and honestly, so is my brain. I need mountains. Real, cold mountains.
I’ve been looking at this wild 15-day South America route. It starts in Buenos Aires but quickly goes to the good stuff. El Calafate. They have actual, massive blue glaciers there. Moreno Glacier. I think I would just stand in front of it and refuse to leave.
Then there’s Peru. Machu Picchu, the Andes, the old salt pans. That is proper hiking territory. I don't need fancy, expensive brand-name gear for it, just my old, trusty trail shoes and a decent windbreaker.
Apparently, you can also go deep into the Amazon. Fish for piranhas, hold a baby sloth. Sounds slightly terrifying but definitely beats grading university papers.
August is supposed to be quite cool over there. Perfect.
I’ll need to figure out the visas first. Being from Oman means a bit of paperwork prep, but it should be doable. Need to pack light. Just layers, a good camera, and heavy-duty insect repellent for the jungle.
I should probably go book the flights now before I get distracted and buy another houseplant.
