Honestly, I’ve been saving up almost all my internship allowance for months just to plan this massive 20-day getaway. If you know me, you know like 80% of my travel budget always goes straight to food, and I am so ready to eat my way through the Indian Ocean! I'm talking about Mauritius street food like dholl puri, fresh Creole seafood in Seychelles, and whatever local snacks I can find in Madagascar. Here’s the rough game plan I've been looking at: We'll start with Mauritius for about 5 days—definitely taking a speedboat to go dolphin and whale watching (highly recommend bringing motion sickness pills because the waves can get quite choppy). Then we head to Reunion Island for the volcano and hiking views, followed by a deep dive into Madagascar, and finally ending the trip chilling at the Seychelles marine parks. Since I like to plan ahead, here are some super practical things I noted down: 🔌 Plugs: Good news for us Singaporeans—Mauritius actually uses UK-style plugs (three-prong), so no need adapter there! But since this is a multi-country trip to Reunion and Madagascar too, you definitely need to bring a universal adapter. ☀️ Weather: If you're going around August, it’s actually quite dry and breezy, not super humid and sticky like SG. But the UV rays are insane. Bring high SPF sunscreen and a lightweight outer piece, especially when you're out on the boats. 📱 Data: Definitely buy a multi-country SIM card beforehand. Honestly, the airport queues to get local SIM cards at every stop can get so long, and I’d rather spend that time finding food. It’s a pretty long trip, but honestly, doing a multi-country hop like this saves so much travel time in the long run. Let me know if you guys have any food recs for Mauritius or Seychelles! 👇
