Isn't Christmas coming soon? Yesterday I started talking about my Christmas trips in the past three years. In the last issue, we talked about Morocco (those who are interested can read the previous article). In this issue, we will talk about Dubai. Many people have never heard of the UAE, but almost everyone knows Dubai. Let's talk about the relationship between the two. The full name of the country, the United Arab Emirates, is the United Arab Emirates. It consists of seven emirates (Abu Dhabi, Dubai, Sharjah, Ajmah, Fujairah, Umm al-Qaiwain and Ras al-Khaimah). The state system is very special. It is neither a federal system nor a republic nor a constitutional monarchy. They are independent of each other except for military and diplomatic affairs, so some are very rich and some are very poor. I have been to all these seven emirates, because there is no need to go through procedures for mutual communication, and except for the eldest Abu Dhabi and the second Dubai, the other emirates are too small and very backward and barren. You can drive all of them in one day. Even the third largest country, Sharjah, includes Ajmah, and Ajmah is connected to Umm al-Qaiwain, hahahaha! Moreover, 47% of the entire UAE land is still desert... You can imagine how much effort and money they have put in to become a wealthy country that attracts global attention. Last year, 2019, seemed to be the year when I came to the UAE most frequently. I came three times in December, for personal reasons and work reasons. Last Christmas, I was planning to go to Israel again, because I had experienced the Sabbath and the Jewish New Year in Jerusalem before, and the religious atmosphere was simply soul-shaking. Think about it, the stable where Jesus was born (respectfully called the Twelve Star Cave) is in the Church of the Nativity in Bethlehem, Palestine. The scene I usually go there is moving, and Christmas must be particularly spectacular! But in December, I suddenly received an invitation from the Dubai Tourism Bureau to participate in the first Dubai Christmas Desert Carnival, so the original plan was shelved and I returned to Dubai! On Christmas Eve on the 24th, I was invited to stay at the Summer Palace of the Jumeirah Castle Hotel (now translated as Jumeirah, the name Jumeirah is the private business of the Dubai chief, such as the Burj Al Arab, which is the most familiar to Chinese people. The real name is Jumeirah Arabian Tabernacle Hotel). I used to stay at the Yi Palace near the small wooden boat dock (I stayed at the cheaper one at my own expense, haha), and the top room types are all in the He Palace and the Summer Palace. I am so happy that I don’t spend my own money this time (the room rate of the Summer Palace will exceed 10,000 yuan a night)! The tourism bureau of the rich country is not short of money! The Christmas decoration here is different from the bright red and green style of European countries. It is a solemn Christmas tree green and the rich Arabian gold, which looks grand and not exaggerated! For me, the most interesting thing is to eat. There should be 70 or 80 restaurants of all sizes in the castle hotel, but my favorite is the buffet restaurant of Yi Palace. The environment is good. You can see the Burj Al Arab by pushing the floor-to-ceiling glass door. There are turtles swimming in the artificial canal below, but it is mainly because this restaurant has a Hong Kong chef who specializes in Cantonese and Southeast Asian dishes, which is very suitable for my taste, hahaha! This time, as soon as I entered the restaurant, I saw a fancy cake exhibition being held to celebrate Christmas, which was very interesting and added to the festive atmosphere!
