GGuest UserThis was my first and only stay at a ryokan so I don’t have much to compare it to. I chose this lodging because of the cats and good reviews on the food. The cats were really sweet and I enjoyed playing with them. I have 2 cats of my own so it was really nice. The food was so beautiful and delicious - the mushroom soup at dinner was amazing. I really enjoyed it. The private bath rooms were very convenient and open 24 hrs. I thought the facilities were clean and very pleasant. The location was very close to the central area and a quick walk to all the important sites including the bus station. The only comment I have was in the morning someone was smoking and the smell got ****** into the 2nd floor hallway so maybe more care should be taken to be sure the smoke stays outside. The host was so nice and sweet and I used google translate to ask questions. The matcha madeleines are so tasty I bought a box to take with me.

Fflower_ chickThis was my first time going to Kusatsu Onsen. I had originally booked a different inn, but I changed to this one at the last minute because the reviews on other websites were very good, and breakfast was included and it was a little cheaper.
After staying here, I definitely want to stay here again next time! The following is a long story, but I hope it was helpful.
- About a 7-minute walk from the Yubatake.
The inn is uphill from the Yubatake, but for someone in their early 30s, it wasn't too hard.
Older people might get a little out of breath.
- The inn only has stairs. The rooms only have a toilet, no bathroom.
There are two private baths, and if they are available, you can bathe until 9am.
Amenities include shampoo, conditioner, body soap,
toothbrush, razor, hair band, samue, tabi socks,
bath towel, face towel
(no face wash or makeup remover)
If you are planning to go to a day trip to the hot springs,
it is recommended to bring a face towel from the inn
(be careful not to forget to take it home!)
The breakfast was so delicious and plentiful that it didn't seem like a light breakfast.

The building is like an old house, but it was meticulously cleaned

GGuest UserI don't know where to start. Our stay was a highlight of our trip to Japan. This area is so beautiful and calm. We had a large room in the old house, very.spacious and with comfortable beds. The onsen in the room was amazing. But the best of all was the care of the owner in preparing delicious meals for dinner and for breakfast. Very generous and prepared with such attention. Each dish has its unique flavour. We stayed three nights and were truly sad to leave. It is a different world. We went on walks and we were given a tasty picnic box. Everything was wonderful. The place can be easily reached by train to Shimonita from where the owner can pick you up. Please visit this place. You will not regret it.

Kkazu.jp駅近で周辺に食事出来る所たくさんありました。高崎駅近くのホテル探しましたがインバウンドの影響？か週末シングル10000円↑の所ばかりでこちらのSuzuya Hotelに決めました。他のレビューでウォシュレットがないというの見ましたがやはりあったらいいなと思いました。漫画がたくさんあり一人で滞在するには良かったです。

The dishes are ok, and the breakfast is a bit disappointing. It is all carbon water, and the hot spring eggs are not. The geographical location is an extra point. This town has many mountain roads. His home is a 1-minute walk from the bus station, and it will not be very tired to go up and down, let alone ask the hotel to drive to pick it up.
According to these circumstances, it is okay to give 4 points, but I don't recommend everyone to live, because this house has hidden charges, and in winter it will charge 500 warm house fee and 150 hot spring water tax. There is no mention on the booking page. If the hot spring tax is not unfamiliar to people who frequent Japan, what is called the warm house fee is very strange. Communicate with the store. They showed me their official website, which means that there is a statement. I said that I didn't set it on the official website. I have no way of knowing it. I prefer to believe that the owner ’s idea is pure and not intentional, but doing business is very frustrating. No wonder it takes up such a good position and does not renovate. I praised Ctrip customer service and dealt with it in a particularly efficient and professional manner. The reasons for not recommending are: 1. Difficulty in communication. I went to the next few places and visited. Although the English is not fluent, it is obviously much better. There are local characteristics (I changed to the hotel the next day); 3. GGuest UserA very unique ryokan experience at Kusatsu. I've never seen wooden floors that shiny. The room is LARGE. Plenty of space that is also partitioned, and can sleep up to 6. There's a toilet in the room, but no shower. They've got a top notch onsen bath downstairs. The hotel staff were kind and used a translator to communicate with us. Location wise, it is very good. It's near enough to the Yubatake. Like 1 min walk away. But it's away from the noise and crowd and sulphur fumes. The perfect choice for guests who like to go back to the hotel for a short rest and come back out again

GGuest UserEverything was good to be honest. Only the check out timing was written on trip.com “before 12” however the owner said “it is 10 am”. We went out in the morning and we came back before 12, the owner removed all our belongings from the to the entrance so we felt about annoyed since we could only call us to excuse us before removing our belongings by himself. Also, it is not written on the website, but the owner asked us to pay 300 yen (150 each) as taxes for using Ofuro.

GGuest UserThe place is far from the city so it’s actually pretty hard to access to this place. But the owner is really nice, she helped us with a lot of stuff, including with luggage transfer and taking us back to the train station. She also made us food because she’s worried we’re not eating enough and it’s cold.
On top of that, if you are planning to go snowboarding or skiing there is a shuttle bus near by that takes you to the Kawaba ski resort for free!

NNat_SThe location is perfect, right on the main square. But this ryokan doesn’t ready for foreign travelers, even Signboard only in Japanese. Workers doesn’t speak English also. And there is no kayseki dinner. In the room you’ll have matcha tea and beautiful tableware, traditional clothes. For breakfast you should choose time 7:30 or 8:30 and it’s so big (2 photo), but for me was very salty. There is two onsen - outside and inside on different floors.
