I wanted to stay in a traditional Japanese-style room typical of Kyoto, and I had a wonderful time. I was impressed by the earthen-floored kitchen. It was a comfortable stay in a charming old house. I used a private Japanese-style room on the second floor facing the shopping street. The Japanese furniture, such as the low table and clothes rack, was lovely and convenient. Although I could hear conversations from other rooms, everyone was well-mannered that day, and it became quiet after midnight, so I was able to sleep without any problems. The location is very convenient, right near Higashiyama Station. I stayed there for a concert held at the Rohm Theatre, and the convenient location made getting around very easy. They offer free porridge for breakfast, which I enjoyed. I think the rice is delicious, as it was very tasty even without adding anything. If I have the opportunity to stay again, I'll bring some dried sardines and kelp! I was very grateful that they allowed me to leave my luggage after check-out. There is only one shower room, so I used a nearby public bath. Coffee, tea, and green tea are available free of charge. You can make it by boiling water in the kettle. Towels, yukata (Japanese robes), and toothbrushes are available for a fee, so guests need to purchase them or bring their own. There are many delicious restaurants nearby, and I enjoyed trying various places like Shokudo Hayashiya, Marushin Hanten, and Kyoto Gion Bologna Coffee Shop. I would like to stay here again if I have the opportunity.

The Millennials Kyoto Capsule Hotel Great location and clean environment, with a really well-designed common area. Even though it's a capsule hotel, it offers good privacy and comfort. I had a great experience staying for several nights in a row, and I'd definitely consider coming back here on my next trip to Kyoto.

I really liked the hotel. The room was decorated in a traditional Japanese style. Shops, transportation, and attractions were all within walking distance. It was quiet, clean, and there was always hot water. A nice bonus was the breakfast with toast, butter, jam, and fruit. I was very pleased. I recommend it!

Here's an elaborated version of your hotel review: I had the pleasure of traveling in January 2026, and looking back, choosing this hotel was without a doubt one of the best decisions I made for my trip. From the moment I arrived, I knew I was in good hands. The experience exceeded my expectations in every way. The staff were warm, attentive, and went above and beyond to ensure my stay was as comfortable and enjoyable as possible. The accommodations were impeccably maintained, offering everything I needed to feel right at home — even while away from home. Whether it was the quality of the rooms, the amenities on offer, or simply the overall atmosphere of the place, everything came together to create a truly memorable stay. It was the kind of hotel that makes you feel like a valued guest rather than just another booking. If you're planning a trip and considering where to stay, I wholeheartedly recommend this hotel without any hesitation. It perfectly blended comfort, convenience, and hospitality in a way that is genuinely hard to find. I will absolutely be returning on my next visit, and I encourage anyone looking for a reliable and enjoyable place to stay to give it a try — you won't be disappointed!

Having stayed in many capsule hotels, this one offered the best experience by far. It has a large public bath and individual shower rooms, as well as a common lounge. Plus, there's a free lactic acid drink served in the afternoon. Most other hotels require guests to check out by 10 AM, but this one has no such strict rule, allowing residents to return to the hotel for a rest during midday, which makes traveling much more convenient and flexible. There's also a supermarket and duty-free shop nearby, which is very handy. The only downside is that the transportation isn't as convenient as I'd hoped. While it's easy to get there by bus, the bus frequency is quite low, and if you take the subway, it's at least a 15-minute walk. I'd definitely choose this chain of capsule hotels again!

The location is fantastic, with convenient access to public transportation, as the bus/tram stop is right next door. It's a straight shot to Kiyomizu-dera Temple, and Nijo Castle and Kyoto Imperial Palace are very close by. The hostel is within a 15-minute walk of the Kamo River and Hanamikoji. You can also take a direct bus to attractions like the Philosopher's Path. The area is lively, with plenty of shops and malls nearby. The room is quite quiet. The front desk staff doesn't speak Chinese, only English and Japanese. The main topics of communication were confirming accommodation details, collecting accommodation tax, asking if paid pajamas were needed, noting that one key card opens all locks, and providing the room number and floor (my female dorm was on the first floor, to the left of the elevator once you enter). Disposable toiletries can be picked up near the elevator. Overall, it's clean and hygienic. The vanity area/showers/toilets/individual locker area/washing machine (not sure if it's coin-operated) are all available. The functional area signs aren't very obvious; the toilets are located within the washroom area.

Cute place to stay in a spacious mixed dorm. The dorm was well designed with lockers and lots of small shelves next to the bed plus a sink in the room. Bed was a little hard but not terrible. Found the self check-in process very convenient and clearly explained, you have to pay city tax and any extra charges separately before check-out, which you can do online with a qr code or cash if you have the exact amount. Nice to experience a more traditional building in Kyoto. The free rice porridge and teas and coffee was a great bonus. Plenty of convenience shops nearby and right near Kyoto Station. Overall a really relaxing and cosy place to stay!

The reception was very warm; there was even a Russian-speaking staff member who gave us detailed information about the hotel's surroundings. Thanks to him, we were able to find perhaps the best cento of our trip. The room's downsides included the windows not opening, the combined bathroom and shower, and short blankets. The room's advantages included power outlets by the bed.

A cozy renovated house in the center of Kyoto, located in a quiet neighborhood with old streets and temples. The room was quite large and spacious, featuring a table, a mirror, a sofa, and excellent, comfortable futons. We slept so well, and the room quickly warmed up with the air conditioner. For convenience, there's a shared toilet on the same floor as the room, serving two rooms. The rooms are on the second floor, while the first floor has a bathroom with a tub and a kitchen where you can not only heat food but even cook, as it has everything you need: a stove, cutlery, dishes, and a large refrigerator. The stairs to the second floor are quite steep, but that didn't bother us since we only had backpacks.

The overall environment of the hotel is quite clean, but the check-out time is not a good time to remember, I thought it was an hour earlier than the domestic, 11:00 check-out, I didn't expect it to be 10:00 The room is quite small overall, but the overall feeling is not bad, experience the Japanese accommodation atmosphere, a novel experience, the surrounding is quite quiet, not very noisy, belongs to the residential area, it is convenient to go anywhere, walk about 7 minutes to the subway station, But after the evening, there are residential areas, there are no people activities, not even convenience stores, there are coin-operated self-service vending machines downstairs, everyone needs to pay attention to this

SsinabroayaI was looking for a quiet guesthouse in Kyoto, and this one, a clean, 4-story building located in a residential area, fit the bill perfectly. The laundry facilities, shower room, kitchen, and lounge on the second floor were great. I enjoyed cooking my own meals and listening to music there – it was a really comfortable experience. From the 5th-floor rooftop, I could see Kiyomizu-dera Temple and Sanjusangendo Temple. Kyoto Tower was also visible in the distance. Kamo River is nearby, so I went for runs in the mornings. Being a Class 1 water source, I saw many winter migratory birds and various other birds. I also saw many couples on dates and people taking photos. With Shichijo subway station right next door, I could get to Shijo Station in the city center directly. It was also convenient for trips to Uji City and Osaka. Attractions like Kiyomizu-dera Temple, Fushimi Inari-taisha, Kyoto National Museum, Sanjusangendo Temple, Yasaka Pagoda, Kyoto Women's University, and Kyoto University of Arts and Design are all close by. I often had lunch at the cafeteria of Kyoto University of Arts and Design before exploring in the afternoon. There's also a restaurant on the first floor where you can eat while looking out at the road towards Kamo River. There's a Sapporo Ramen shop nearby – I recommend the slightly spicy one for 1350 yen. There's also a CoCo Ichibanya Curry House. I tried the handmade tonkatsu with extra vegetables for 1380 yen – it was delicious! Additionally, there's an unmanned store selling frozen gyoza and frozen dim sum. I highly recommend the frozen dim sum, all for 1,000 yen. There's also a specialty liquor store that sells fresh sake from its refrigerated display. I recommend the sake wrapped in newspaper or plastic in the fridge. The production date is clearly marked on the label. It was truly excellent, a fantastic experience. I think I stayed for about 25 days. Initially, I loved the single room because the morning sun streamed in every day. Since it was winter, it was cold to sleep without anything, so I brought an electric blanket and stayed warm. A free-voltage electric blanket is essential. Later, an alumnus from my high school joined me, and we used the 4th-floor tatami room. The residential area viewed from the tatami room window was so peaceful and relaxing. Watching snow fall in Kyoto from there was a wonderful experience. And most importantly, the owner! The owner greeted us with a smile every morning, and their smile is beautiful. They spoke a little Korean, so we communicated using Papago and hand gestures. Since I don't speak any Japanese, I used Papago frequently. There's also Manita, the guesthouse's mascot, a charming young lady from Nepal on a working holiday in Japan. She smiles a lot and studies Japanese diligently. During my stay at Winter Villa, I saw the beautiful owner and Manita multiple times every day. Our communication involved a few English words, a few Japanese phrases, and Papago did the rest. If you want to walk along Kyoto's Kamo River and experience the city's tranquility, I highly recommend this place. I spent the winter here, and I can imagine how nice it would be to have a beer on the rooftop of Winter Villa in early summer, looking at the sky and stars.

AAsh412222The location is very good, just a few minutes walk from the subway station, but there are not many food options near the hotel, only convenience stores, and the hotel does not have an elevator. Guests with large luggage need to pay attention, because they need to carry their luggage upstairs by themselves

MMumutu0417My Kyoto trip was particularly satisfying with this Kyoto townhouse. It had a garden, a private hot spring bath, and was brimming with Japanese charm. The breakfasts were especially delightful, with a wide variety and different dishes each day. After breakfast, there was also a traditional Kyoto matcha and carefully selected sweets; the owner even patiently explained the proper way to drink the matcha. It's a bit far from the subway, but there are several bus stops nearby, making it quite convenient. Strolling along Kyoto's charming streets and discovering hidden gems of little shops was also a delightful experience.

GGuest UserKyoto was the main stop on this trip, so I had high expectations for this hotel in Omiya. It's about a 10-minute walk from Kyoto's most prosperous Shijo shopping street, which isn't too close, but still very convenient. There are bus stops and subway stations nearby, so getting around is still very convenient. However, if you want to avoid walking, it's best to book a room in Shijo. There's free housekeeping once every three nights, but we didn't tell the front desk before 8 p.m. one night in advance, so we didn't use it. The toothbrush was very difficult to use, much worse than the hotel in Nagoya.

GGuest UserFab capsule hotel! The only thing that I would change is how loud the blinds are but that was only a minor issue. The bathroom even had two rooms that were fully equipped with baths! I’ve never seen that in a hostel before. Great location, everything was spotless, the staff were lovely, overall 10/10. Thank you!

AAnonymous UserI stayed for two nights at Hashidate Bay Hotel and was initially hesitant to book, thinking it might be too far from Amanohashidate Station. The nearest bus stop is about a 5–8 minute walk, and buses run only once an hour. But based on the reviews, it looked promising—and I’m so glad I went ahead with the booking. To my surprise, I was upgraded to a much larger room, almost like a four-person suite. It was huge, and the view of Yoshino from my window was absolutely stunning. I was super happy with the stay—this upgrade felt like a real treat. They even provided bath lavender, which I thought was just for the first night, but they refilled it the next day. Since I arrived early, I left my luggage at the hotel before heading out to explore Amanohashidate. When I checked in later that night, I was pleasantly surprised to find my luggage already placed in my room. That was a big plus—so comforting after a full day of walking. I wish I’d told them I was arriving early—the locker at Amanohashidate Station was too small for my luggage. I ended up taking a taxi, which could’ve been free if I’d arranged a pickup with the hotel in advance. The breakfast was good too—my favorite was the prawn tempura. And the lady who dropped me off at the station was soft-spoken and very pretty. Overall, a memorable and comfortable stay.

Bbill (citizen of asia)So its very near the temples and attractions so thats nice. Also away from the kyoto station so consider that if youre also into that. The hostel allowed me to leave my bag before and after checkout so thats perfect. It is also clean and well maintained, though toilet locks can be a bit tricky. They also have a cafe below, then a place to hangout with people and strangers. Have small kitchen with everything in it. They dont have free rental towel so heres that but its fine. Overall i will recommend this to my friends.

SSarahef2026A decent hostel with an excellent location near Gion in NE Kyoto, and very near to a station with direct trains to Osaka. The room was OK in size but very bare, only a double bed and tiny shelves for nightstands. It was a shame as you could easily fit a table/ chairs/ small wardrobe in here which would make it much easier for storing things instead of on the floor! Shared bathroom was OK, and only one shared shower for our floor, thankfully it was always free when we needed it. It was quite expensive for what it was so slightly disappointing, but I guess Kytoto is now a very expensive city to stay in.
