My kids loved the bunk beds! The staff were very patient, even though it was crowded during Chinese New Year. There's a food street and attractions downstairs, and it's super convenient to get anywhere from this old town location. It's a bit old-fashioned, but the price is right. Not bad at all. Service: They didn't speak Chinese, but they were all really nice.

At first, I was quite shocked by the room I was given because it had not been cleaned yet. The room was dirty and the bed linens hadn’t been changed. I immediately informed the staff about the situation. After I told them, the staff explained that the room was actually not supposed to be given out due to an air-conditioning issue, and that was why it hadn’t been prepared. They then moved me to another room. Overall, the replacement room was clean, comfortable and in good condition. The staff were very responsive and cooperative in solving the issue. Although the stay started off poorly, the staff’s quick action helped improve the overall experience.

🐾 Purrfect Stay at Red Inn Court! 🌟 The Red Inn Court was a fantastic stop on our trip! The rooms were cozy and clean, and the staff was incredibly welcoming. The location is super convenient for exploring. The absolute highlight? Watching a super cute cat playing delightfully with guests in the common area! It brought such a warm, homey feeling to the whole place. We loved seeing people interact with the friendly feline. Definitely recommend this charming spot for a wonderful, feel-good experience! 💖

When on to a vacation in Penang and choose to stay at Yan Hotel, 1st of all about this hotel is the strategy of this place which is very convenience and neraby to almost all the tourism attraction restaurants. The price also reasonable for room space given. There is only one issue is the placement of the aircond is not on the correct way of air flow as the bed is place on one side and the the aircond was fixed towards the other direction. So it not helpful or feel comfortable. This issue hope the management can fix.. since they upgrading and renovating the hotel this should be helpful for them to take notice. Overall a good stay there all the staffs are good and helpful except one chinese guy wear specs was so rude and no manners at all to behave towards customers.

The location is very good. Bus stops are close, shopping malls are close, you can walk around Georgetown, and there are no problems with places to eat. The hotel has air conditioning and the shower has strong water pressure. Shampoo and body soap are provided, and the hair dryer is also strong and good. The toilet and shower are shared, but that's the case with most accommodations of this type. One thing that bothered me was that although it looked clean, there was a lot of hair and other things stuck on the rail of the room door. They didn't clean the small details, so it might not be suitable for people who are concerned about that. They only cleaned the surface lightly. Check-in is self-service. It's fine for people who are used to it, but it will be confusing for first-timers.

I stayed at this hotel for just one night, and it exceeded my expectations in several ways. One standout feature is the flexibility to extend your stay by paying a small additional fee—perfect for spontaneous plans or when you just need a few extra hours to unwind. The pricing is very affordable, making it a great value for budget-conscious travelers. The staff were exceptionally friendly and welcoming, which added a warm touch to the overall experience. Location-wise, it’s hard to beat. Situated directly in front of a mall, the hotel offers high accessibility to shopping, dining, and entertainment options—all just steps away. Whether you're here for business or leisure, the convenience is unbeatable. Highly recommended for anyone looking for a short, comfortable, and flexible stay in a prime location.

I had a wonderful stay at this central Penang hotel; the lobby was stunning and the room was very clean, complemented by an exceptionally friendly staff member. For future guests, it's worth noting that a thin ceiling and outside work caused some noise, which a little added insulation could fix. The shared bathroom was functional, though it could use a bit more attention to keep the floor dry. We also appreciated how easy it was to get around from this location.

I chose this hotel for my first night in Penang because it allowed for late-night check-in, which I thought was great at the time. However, after staying at several other hotels in Penang for a few more nights, I realized just how amazing this place truly is, far exceeding the average for the area. First off, it's run by Chinese staff, so communication was excellent, and there's someone available 24/7. They also offer free luggage storage, which frankly puts many of the lazier local establishments to shame. I've stayed at other guesthouses where the front desk staff would come in late and leave early, often making them impossible to find, leaving you to fend for yourself. For anything under 500 [currency unit, assuming MYR based on context], I believe this hotel is unbeatable. They even provide complimentary toothbrushes and slippers – do you know how rare that is in Malaysia?! Seriously, I wholeheartedly recommend this place. If your budget is 1000 or 2000, then that's a different story, but for under 500, this hotel is unmatched. I feel I have a lot of authority on this, as I've stayed at almost all the hotels under 500 in Penang, and this one is simply the best!

Very good location. It is a short walk from the Jetty Food Court with many dining options, as well as other restaurants and Chew Jetty. 10 mins walking from the Penang Ferry. The air conditioning and wi-fi work well. The showers have hot water. The toilet paper is not of good quality and scarce per day. The hotel does not have a reception; check-in is done using a code that is entered at both the main door and in each room. However, the pad is quite sensitive, so it often got stuck during our stay and we had to wait a few minutes for it to unlock

GGuest UserFor value and location in the old town peripheral area and approximately walking distance to major attractions was such a great place. The bed was clean and the sheets cleaned as hospital graded quality sheets with a hotel appearance. Whilst rooms are small,  it was very well managed, and comfortable to sleep and restore energy - fit for one..  A little tighter for a ‘couple’ but still comfortable enough. The place was a restored old grand colonial building with Architraves more of post-Victorian Era and offices as a heritage building site - thus remodeled iinterior as a Bauhaus set up-  no frills or extravagance in decorate, but colour oalatte blocks of LEGO arranged and deep  Primary hues contrast the external light being Lebuh Chula reminiscent of the Hoi An Orient light and the grid like structures of Piet Mondrian and the city set up of the hay days that had similar orientation of British formations. The amenities simple yet available, and water system fantastic. The communication between agent services was excellent and prompt. The cleaners were around and if requested needed was designed. The idea of the box set up and returning cards and applications to each person in letter boxes delivered and on time. Preferences would be to have more pamphlets of city maps at the entrance and better entrance appeal. The system excellent. Air conditioning and tv  all operating well. ( Draw card - walls are thin between rooms and can hear people in corridors and rooms. This fortunately people staying very respectful and considerate. ( if muffled materials between walls could be reconsidered ) . Iron boards and iron along the corridor great idea . Waiting for a bike rack and maybe a friendly expresso machine or a kettle  if needing to wait before check in as a feel good 😊 would be a lovely touch to the services. Thankyou and I shared my experience to the agency already - in accordance with value and quality it was definitely worth the expected stay. ( families would struggle unless it was just for a staycation-for early birds.   Ideally a bicycles for hire would be a treat in addition to a highly accessible area for biking.

RRonin tanThe hotel's automatic check-in system is very convenient, the whole process is fast and smooth, there is no need to wait for the front desk, especially suitable for passengers who are in a hurry or like self-check-in. The room was very clean and tidy, the bed was comfortable and well-equipped, making people feel at ease. The overall environment is quiet and the sound insulation effect is good. There are many restaurants and snack bars nearby, whether it is breakfast, lunch or supper, you can easily find delicious things. The transportation is also very convenient, and convenience stores and shopping malls can be reached on foot. Overall, this stay experience is very satisfactory, I will definitely choose here next time I come to this area!

GGuest UserFor travellers who travel by train, the location is excellent, walkable to the train station. Why walk when you can get a grab car easily? To walk off all the rich food we eat! The hotel is also within walking distance to the ferry terminal (Penang Sentral). So if you arrive via ferry from Georgetown, no problem! I walked to the ferry terminal to take a ferry to Georgetown! Adding to the convenience, there is a supermarket and self service laundromat near the hotel. The hotel has a lift, which is convenient, if you are assigned a higher floor. No need to carry yourself and your luggage to your room. But no chance to work off the extra calories. I'm not complaining, though Reception is 24 hours. I had to leave very early as I had an early train to catch, but was able to collect back the RM50 deposit. Oh yes, RM2 was collected during check in. Trip.com had informed me at the time of booking, so this is not a surprise to me The room that was assigned to me is spacious. The bathroom is well laid out. Shower on one side, WC on another side and sink in the middle. Shower gel was provided. Shampoo was not provided. It might be because the gadget for the shampoo container was broken. I booked a windowless room. But because it was spacious, I did not miss not having a window. I paid a higher price for my room, I don't know why my receipt showed a much lower price. In summary, I would stay in this hotel again if I go again to Butterworth Pictures 1: Aircon lobby - such a welcomed relief when coming in from the hot and humid weather 2. The hotel's room rated 3. My room rate, which is different from what I had paid in advance to trip.com 4. Door to the bathroom 5. Above the WC, racks for drying wet stuff, very hardy 7.The missing shampoo container 6.The ceiling of the lift - pretty and classy 8. Don't lose your receipt. You need it to claim back your deposit 9. The supermarket nearby 10. The laundromat

HHusin AlatasHad a nice stay at the hotel. I was in transit so only needed the hotel for a few hours to catch a nap and shower. The place is new, you can smell the new shower. You get a nice large space with 2 ceiling fans and an AC that works really well. It seems like a home converted into a hotel where you leave shoes off and kept in a locker before you enter the property. They have cold, warm and hot water machine. My only issue is that throughout the night there were some machine noises going on. So be aware if you are sensitive to sound whilst sleeping. Oh, although they have no lift, the front desk kindly offered to carry my bags to the 2nd floor which was a pleasant touch to my experience.

GGuest UserI absolutely do not recommend the shared dormitory rooms here, unlike in Thailand, there's a high chance you'll have Indian roommates in Malaysia. The body odor, without deodorant, completely fills your chest and makes it impossible to sleep. Also, the public toilets and showers lack toilet paper and are quite unhygienic. The private rooms are fine, though. The location is fantastic, and the front desk communication is very convenient. I still wouldn't recommend staying in the hostel dorms here.
