GGuest UserThe hotel is located in the old city's residential area, making it easy to walk to the Shah-i-Zinda Necropolis and Registan Square. The location is excellent. However, I'm not sure if it was a system issue or something else, but when we arrived, our booked room wasn't available. We had to stay on the first floor for the first night and then move to the second floor for the second night, which was quite inconvenient. The hotel breakfast was just average. There's a three-generation naan bakery right outside the hotel, and their naan is absolutely delicious.

AAnonymous UserWe were supposed to have a twin room, but they upgraded us to a family room. When you open the heavy door, there's a courtyard with rooms built around it. The courtyard had tables, chairs, and even a chaihana (tea house) seating area.
There was an outlet next to the bed. The hairdryer was in the closet. The air conditioning and drainage worked perfectly. Oddly, the shower's hot water came out when you turned the blue knob, and the cold water from the red one.
I had read reviews saying that when people asked for a replacement toilet paper roll, they were given a used one. However, when I asked, I received a brand new roll, so it seems they've made improvements.
On our last day, the road in front of the hotel was closed due to construction, and the owner kindly helped us call a car and guided us. The handmade restaurant map was also very helpful, and we really appreciated all their assistance.
We received our proof of stay via email on the last day.

1. The location is excellent, just a few steps from Registan Square – incredibly convenient!
2. The room size is reasonable, and the facilities are great. There are hot and cold water dispensers on each floor, which is very handy. The room also has a small fridge, perfect for keeping drinks cold in the summer.
3. Downstairs is the hotel's own highly-rated restaurant, and there are two other restaurants nearby, making dining incredibly convenient. There are also small shops around for buying drinks and snacks.
4. As mentioned above, since the hotel has its own restaurant, the breakfast quality goes without saying.
5. The price is reasonable; I stayed in a single room for three nights for just over 500.
Cons:
The room seemed to have been recently painted, as there were a few drops of paint on the windowsill and mirror.

AAnonymous UserEven though I arrived late at night, I was kindly checked in and shown to my room. The hotel is located in a back alley, but it's easy to find as there are many signs. I could walk to all the tourist attractions in Samarkand. It was a great location. The breakfast was also very delicious.

DDr. SMLMore like an Uzbekistan family Homestay experience than a hostel. Made friends with the girls that I stayed in the same room with :) Walking distance (20 mins) to Registan Square. They have a cute puppy called Charlie 🐶 who loves petting and is super friendly. Owner is super kind and helpful too (he speaks good English), he worked up to help me get a Taxi at 3am as my Yandex Go (e-hailing) app is not working 🥲 I would say, to manage expectations as it would be an experience where you live in a local family home instead of a luxurious accommodation.

HHami NguyenThis guest house is a wonderful budget-friendly option in Samarkand. It’s conveniently located near the city center, only about 2 km from Registan Square and other major attractions, making it very easy to get around. The room rates are affordable, with options for 2 or 4 guests, which is perfect for couples, families, or groups of friends.
The rooms are clean, comfortable, and equipped with all the necessary amenities for a pleasant stay. The host is incredibly kind, gentle, and always willing to help with anything you need. One of the highlights was the homemade breakfast prepared by the family — generous, delicious, and offering a wide variety of dishes each morning.
For easier navigation or when booking a taxi, it’s best to search for “Bilol Hotel” on Google Maps.

GGuest UserThe front desk staff were incredibly friendly. The breakfast was delicious, and we enjoyed relaxing in the courtyard. However, the room doors and windows are made of glass, so light from outside streams in until around midnight. I wouldn't recommend it for those who want to sleep in complete darkness early, but for anyone else, it's highly recommended! It's close to Jemaa el-Fnaa square, and there's a delicious cake shop nearby too.

AAnonymous UserYou can get here from Samarkand Station by bus. The location is great as it's within walking distance to Registan Square. There were also delicious Uzbek restaurants nearby. The staff were all very friendly. Amenities were well-stocked, with large bottles of body wash, shampoo, and conditioner provided. Water and toilet paper are brought to you if you ask for them (they won't be replenished otherwise). I stayed here on a solo trip and it was spacious enough for one person, allowing me to rest comfortably. However, the Wi-Fi was a bit weak.

GGuest UserCleanliness: Although the hotel is a bit old, it's incredibly clean and well-maintained. There were no strange odors inside, which shows their excellent housekeeping and odor control. The lobby always had a faint fruity scent, and our room was spotless.
Facilities: The hotel breakfast was fantastic! Besides standard items like coffee, tea, milk, juice, and eggs, they offered a variety of fresh fruits, vegetables, dairy products, and local pastries every day. For tourists who spend their days exploring, such a high-quality breakfast is essential. The complimentary bottled water in the room daily was also very practical!
Service: All hotel staff spoke fluent English and Russian, so communication was never an issue. They were polite, friendly, and always willing to help. We needed to book an English-speaking tour guide for the next day; after explaining it to the front desk, they immediately helped us contact someone and quickly finalized the booking. The day after our tour, upon returning to the hotel, the staff even followed up to ask if we were satisfied with the experience, showing truly excellent service.
Environment: The hotel's location is superb, situated within a pedestrian street, making it very safe. Most major attractions are just a 10-minute walk away. There are many guesthouses and shops nearby, and a square not far off where many locals stroll and walk their children after the sunset cools down, making for a very pleasant evening walk.
Overall, we were extremely satisfied with our experience at the Sangzor Hotel and highly recommend it to other visitors coming to Samarkand!
