Location okay, nice walk on the beach into the old town. Unfortunately the staff was unfriendly. The WiFi didn't work in the room and there was a construction site next door.

La Residencia was the only hotel we reserved on our tour of Spain - we booked AirBnB's for the rest of our destinations. Well I have to say it was the best stay of our entire trip by far. We booked the terrace room with the soaking tub, and sadly we were not able to use it as it was unusually windy during our stay, with weather authorities posting an advisory for the first day. Tarifa is a windy place and the wind was strong! but we were comfortable enough inside, made even more so by taking advantage of the thermal circuit at the hotel Spa. We enjoyed this luxurious experience both days of our stay, and loved it so much we dreamed of finding something even close to the same back at home! Our meals in the dining room, for breakfast and dinner, were spectacular - including the fresh catch, which is baked in salt and then filleted at your table. The service there and at the front desk was exquisite. I booked this hotel seeing it was the top hotel in Tarifa and my expectations were not only met, they were far exceeded. We came to Tarifa for a day-tour to Tangier. This hotel is right across from the port to catch the ferry so easily. A highlight of our trip! Thanks so much!

We stayed at The Riad for 2 nights and thoroughly enjoyed our experience. The hotel is small, but perfectly formed and in a great central location of the old town in a quiet street a few minutes walk from St Matthews Church. All the staff were very friendly and welcoming. A sumptuous breakfast is included with a wide selection of items and the best tortilla I have ever tasted. Our room was spacious with dual aspect windows overlooking the internal courtyard and the street. There is good outside space on the roof terrace with views over the town. We would highly recommend this hotel and would return should we revisit Tarifa.

The worst hotel experience in Spain, the front desk was no one at 2 pm, but it was not stated on Ctrip. We arrived at night and could not find this hotel. I feel bad giving Kook Hotel a five star review because I’ve given many others five stars, and Kook is SO much better. First the staff, Oriana at reception was so warm and welcoming, went above and beyond to make sure our Tarifa experience was exceptional. After more than a year of travel since we retired I can say that we’ve never felt such warmth and welcome anywhere. Paqui. We met Paqui preparing breakfast our first morning. She was so warm and friendly, telling us proudly about her city of Tarifa, “una ciudad de puertas abiertas” a city so safe you don’t need to lock your doors. Pepe. We asked Pepe, the manager, where we could find a laundry, he responded by asking us how much we had and then they washed our clothes for us at no charge. When we checked out after two nights, Oriana gave us a hug, it almost brought tears to our eyes, because unfortunately, this level of warmth and kindness is all too rare. And if that wasn’t enough, the food and drinks they provide are beyond the pale, I particularly loved their chia oat breakfast and avocado toast. And of course, they had the most comfortable bed and best shower we’ve had in Europe thus far. They have super cool common areas with a living green wall and an amazing rooftop terrace. Kook is a 10 star hotel with a 100 star staff. We were so sad to leave.
