Opted for an outer island stay in Venice, and Plaza Hotel Mestre is directly opposite Mestre train station. It seemed quite popular. Check-in and check-out were smooth; we arrived at noon and were given our room right away. The room was spacious and comfortable, with two 1.5-meter beds and cozy bedding, plus all the basic amenities. The towels were clean, and disposable slippers were provided, though the toiletries were basic. Our street-facing room had a bit of noise at night, but it was tolerable. There's an elevator for convenience. The Western breakfast was filling, with delicious bacon, and the coffee machine offered hot milk and hot water, perfect for those with thermos flasks to refill. Bus No. 2 right outside the hotel made getting to and from the island very convenient. Around the hotel, there's a Chinese supermarket and a Sichuan restaurant that were surprisingly good, affordable, and without any unpleasant surprises. I'd highly recommend this hotel for independent travelers. Venice is truly beautiful! đ

Hotel Principe is truly one of the most convenient stays in Venice, located just a short walk from the Santa Lucia train station  â a great advantage in a city full of bridges and steps . The hotel offers two guest lifts, which makes moving around with luggage incredibly easy.
The lounge area is spacious, beautifully decorated, and provides a warm, elegant welcome. One of the highlights is the direct access to the Venice canal right from within the hotel. You can relax and enjoy the charming view of boats gliding along the water â a quintessential Venetian experience.
Our room was spacious and comfortable, offering a pleasant stay overall. We genuinely hope the hotel continues to maintain its good standard, as we would love to return on our future visits to Venice.

Everything is perfect. The location is close to the Venezia mestre station, 100m walk from the hostel and you are approaching the bus station to Venezia main island. The staff is friendly and extremely helpful. The room is clean and have good level of noise isolation.
At this hotel, you are only 5 minutes walk from everything you need to see. The reception is welcoming, the room was comfortable and the breakfast was what you need. Easier to get to from the railway station and then you are right in the heart of the city. I would recommend this hotel.

The hotel is conveniently located near a bus stop with services to the island. You can buy bus tickets at tobacco shops, or simply tap your credit card when boarding or alighting. Drivers do not sell tickets.

Excellent location, very close to the train station and attractions,
Complete facilities and environmental sanitation services are in place, recommended!
I loved my stay in this hotel, itâs a castle but has comfortable and newly renovated rooms with great lighting. Breakfast was also delicious, and it was convenient to travel to Venice from there. Highly recommended!

Great
LLady WI was skeptical reading previous reviews but decided to give it a try for one night during my business trip as Iâm an IHG member. Having experienced staying at 5 different hotels in this city â most of them within walking distance on Corso Porta Nuova (main street leading from the train station to many main attractions) â I can say that Indigo was among one of my top 2 choices.
The room I stayed in was tastefully decorated â the headboard of the bed immediately attracted attention, striking but elegant, with paintings seemingly telling romantic tales of the cityâs history; open wardrobe was clever as it made the room seem spacious while leaving plenty of space for hanging clothes and jackets especially on a rainy day.
The balcony was a super nice touch and was my favorite to come back to in the evening with a view of charming Verona at night watching people and cars passing by. Two chairs, a coffee table with blankets and a little bit of floral decorations. I spent a fair bit of time despite the cold and rain, soaking in the beautiful images which were among the most special memories Iâd carry with me from this trip.
Check-in was super efficient. Anna at the reception was an absolute joy to meet and interact with. Sheâs super kind, thoughtful and professional in helping me with storing my suitcase as I was in a rush to catch my train to a nearby city on a rainy day; she gave clear, accurate info helping me to go to the train station within 10mins; and on the next day, kindly offered recommendations for cafes. Her passion and enthusiasm and friendliness is above and beyond many of her peers. Her genuine smile stands out from others who might be just trying to get their job done. You can tell Anna is truly exceptional and a wonderful ambassador for Hotel Indigo. Keep up the good work!
Breakfast service was super efficient, friendly, attentive. The professional and thoughtful gentleman offered multiple times coffee, tea, orange juice, etc, making sure each guest had everything needed for a good start of the day, quickly clearing dishes while guests stepped away - perfectly seamless. Truly outstanding attention to details. The restaurant offered a good variety of food choices: raw veggies are rare in hotel breakfast buffet but here they did so that was a plus in my book. Fresh fruits, muesli, (no sugar-added) yogurt and scrambled eggs were my go-to. Although I didnât eat pastries or bread or drink Prosecco for breakfast, if thatâs something you like then youâd be pleased to know they offered plenty to satisfy different tastes.
The only thing that prevented Indigo from making my No. 1 choice in Verona was the shower. I requested specifically for a shower because from the photos shared by other travelers and reviews many commented that the bath look dated and needed update. I personally do not take baths in hotels so having a new, good water pressure shower with fast efficient drain would be way more important. They did honor my request with a standup shower corner stall. However, the square-shaped shower stall area was so small that my elbows (Iâm petite size female) kept knocking on the glass doors. I believe theyâre scheduled for major renovation in Jan-Feb 2024 so itâd be interesting to see if they remodel the bathrooms and showers.
MMrs ThomasThis hotel was the highlight of our trip! The location was perfect, so close from amazing restaurants and sights. Our room was spacious, modern, and spotlessly clean, with a comfortable bed. The staff, especially at the front desk, were incredibly friendly and helpful, offering great local tips. Breakfast had a fantastic selection, fresh and tasty. Hotel was very private away from the main san Marco attractions, but very easy to get the via the hilton hotel shuttle boat.
Everything was so well thought out and highly recommend the hotel to anyone.
YYunyanThe hotel is about 5-8 mins walk from the Mestre station which is convenient. There's an Asian supermarket nearby and opens until late, it is easy to grab cold drinks and snacks (we visited in June with heat wave in Italy). The hotel has a fitness centre which my husband loves it. If you would like to visit the main island, it needs to take a train from Mestre station to Santa Lucia station for about 10 mins. Unless you have the Trenitalia smartphone app to buy the train ticket online (Italo train does not run this route, Trainline app requires a relatively high handling charge), need to line up at the vending machine to buy the train tickets. There's a big restaurant opposite to the hotel which provides all day dining from breakfast to gelato. There are a few bus routes from Mestre to the airport, all stops are near to the hotel, you could choose the one with the right budget and duration. Be reminded to register to waive the Venice access fee (EUR5.00) if you plan to visit the main island during peak days, check with the hotel for details.
XXuehuasuďźAwesome! Great window view! A really proper hostel! With earplugs and an eye mask, we're all dreamers here! It's very close to Mestre train station, so it's brightly lit and busy early in the morning when you're catching a train, which is great!
AAnonymous UserVery good experience in this hotel. The very large and clean room. The staff very careful and have gluten-free food. Furthermore, it is very close to the Academia bridge that crosses the great channel. They also have a restaurant in the same hotel. I therefore recommend it 100%.
PPranav Patil PHu Venezia Camping Hotel â A Practical & Surprising Base for Venice
My grate stay at the Hu Venezia Camping Hotel. It offers incredible value and fantastic facilities, making it a great choice for travelers on a budget.
The Accommodation: Think of the rooms as clean, modern wooden cabins. They are compact and very basic â essentially a âwooden boxâ as described, but they have the essential: a comfortable bed, a roof, and a powerful air conditioner. The cleaning is provided once a week, which is perfect for longer stays.
The Resort & USP: The Amazing Pool Complex This is where the hotel truly shines. The property is massive and feels like a resort. The centrepiece is the huge, fantastic swimming pool, which is easily the hotel's Unique Selling Point (USP). Itâs a major plus for families, as there's a dedicated area for children, and for adults looking to cool off and relax after a long day of sightseeing in crowded Venice.
The overall atmosphere and interior landscaping of the hotel are really beautiful. It's green, well-maintained, and has a great vibe that makes you forget you're just outside a major city.
Food & Drink There is an on-site restaurant where you can buy affordable meals, snacks, and drinks. A key point to note: there is no room service. The practical approach is to grab your food and take it back to enjoy on your patio or in your room. Also, be aware that coffee sachets are not provided in the room. If you're a coffee lover, I highly recommend bringing your own or buying some at the reception/restaurant.
Location & Connectivity The location is practical for accessing Venice without paying premium prices.
¡ Shuttle Service: The hotel offers a very convenient shuttle bus to Tronchetto (the gateway to Venice's water transport) every 30 minutes for a reasonable âŹ5 return trip.
¡ Walking to Venice Mestre: A major discovery was that the Venezia Mestre train station is absolutely within walking distance (about 1.9km or 20-25 minutes). The walk is very safe, even early in the morning (we walked at 5 AM without any issues). This is a huge money-saver for getting trains to Venice Santa Lucia or other cities.
Overall, the Hu Venezia Camping Hotel offers outstanding value for money. Get access to a fantastic resort-style pool and easy connections to Venice.

GGuest UserFor three people, including city tax, and costing just over 1000 (units not specified), the value for money here in Venice is truly unbeatable. The hotel's main drawback is its distance from the train station, which makes it more ideal for those arriving by car. However, if you plan your trip and use the People Mover, the journey is significantly shorter. There's a Vaporetto (water bus) stop conveniently located just a few hundred meters from the hotel entrance. Be aware that walking from the train station would take at least 35 minutes.
The breakfast, for an Italian hotel, was exceptionally generous and definitely met the standards of a large hotel group. Occupancy seemed quite high too. While the rooms are on the smaller side, for a short stay of one or two nightsâreally, just a place to sleepâthey are perfectly adequate; what more could you possibly need? If you're looking for bigger rooms or more amenities, you'd naturally expect to pay more.
In summary, if you figure out the public transport route from the train station to the hotel beforehand, your stay will be absolutely perfect. For travelers who aren't overly particular about minor details, this place comes highly recommended.
GGuest UserIt was a nice experience overall. There is a âŹ3.60 city tax per person per night that's added on and can only be paid in cash which was inconvenient. There is tea/coffee provided in the room, however, they also charge to refill them if you use any. Breakfast is an extra âŹ5 per person and breakfast lasts less than 3 hours (7am-9:45am) which is a bit inconvenient if you want to sleep in or if you have to get up early. The desk staff is moderately friendly. When we first arrived they weren't too friendly but the evening and check out attendants were nicer. The room is pretty small and really only enough room to eat around the perimeter of the bed. The bathroom is decently sized, however, the shower didn't have a door so water pools out onto the floor unless you huddle close to the shower head and even then... The TV is very small and not easily seen if you are vision impaired. My biggest complaint, however, is how hard the bed was. There's little to no cushion on the mattress. I woke up both mornings I was there and had back and hip pain (I'm 28 yrs old in relatively good physical condition). It is close to sleeping on the floor. There was a closet with a nice amount of space to put our things. There is also am elevator to access the floors which was convenient on days that we walked a ton. The lobby is nice and clean and has some seating areas. We did not explore the bar or breakfast areas. The hotel itself is located near the water bus station for easy access to Venice. It is also on a strip of shops and restaurants. Granted most things on the island of Lido do close early and a lot of them are temporarily closed but still marked as open on Google maps. Plan accordingly and call places ahead of time. I've included pictures of the bathroom which was overall nice, however, I didn't take pictures of the bedroom as it was small and hard to get a good angle.
GGuest UserWe arrived at the most expensive hotel (AU$1600 for 3nts, 2 adults) we had ever stayed at, there was no lift to our room on the 1st floor.
I struggled to carry 2 suitcases with no assistance from the gentleman in reception up to the 1st-floor room. This would be very difficult if we were older & unable to carry our cases.
The wi-fi didn't work in the bedrooms only in the public areas - even though we were told it would.
The bedroom had multiple squashed mosquitos on the walls next to the bed.
The lace curtain had a couple of cigarette burns on it.
The bedcover had a cigarette burn on it.
The telephone handset cable was not connected to the .telephone - I tried to fix it but it wouldn't stay in the socket.
The safe was not working.
The instructions to use the safe were so old & worn out you couldn't read them.
The shower wouldn't work properly, so I had to call the person in reception to assist us in getting it working.
You had to get out of the shower cubicle to retrieve shower gel/shampoo/soap. There was nowhere in the shower to put these items. There was no room in the shower at all. I moved the stool in the bathroom to put my shower gel on it & two legs fell off the stool.
The toilet roll holder wouldn't hold the toilet roll and it kept falling off.
The bathroom bin was broken and filthy
The breakfast ran until 10 am, the bread ran out & was not replaced & this was before 9 am.
I am a travel agent & book many guests to stay in cities around the world including Venice
I was upset that this hotel was an extremely poor standard and felt like it ruined the end of my beautiful holiday in Italy.
We would be extremely grateful if you could offer us a credit for our next hotel booking with trip.com, we are in the process of booking our November Asia tour.
