I give this hotel four stars because of two things: the outdoor dining area with a sea-view and the friendly staff. I am glad I was there mostly during dry weather, which allowed me to enjoy the outdoor seating. However, the 15 minutes or so that I spent inside in the sitting area when it rained, it felt like sitting in an unkempt living room of a big family. It was indeed a family business and many people, possibly family members were helping out. They were all very friendly. The little pool was often full. There seemed to be many day-visitors and at times it was very loud. As for Wi-Fi, although they kept saying ”connect to D-link”, there was mostly no internet with that link. The rooms were small and dark and did not give a very clean feeling. My bed-sheets had blood stains from mosquito bites of the previous guest. The family seemed to be cutting corners in many things. Even the soap was a left-over last piece of what looked like the soap used for doing laundry. Maybe local tourists had no problem with this, but I found it rather unclean. I am glad I had the experience and I did enjoy having a drink or two by the seaside. So, I can forget about the not-so-good stuff in the hotel.
Baobab Soleil

Baobab Soleil was a very pleasant hotel to stay. These were the things I liked about the hotel: It was very close to the wildlife park, Foret de Bandia and the hotel shuttle could provide a ride to and fro for a fee. The hotel was also close to the airport, but since I was not flying in or out, it did not apply to me. There weren't too many staff members, only about three. They worked hard to provide services and were very friendly. The rooms were spacious, clean and had basic amenities. There was a large pool, which was open 24/7. Food was good although the menu was limited. There were alcoholic drinks to purchase. There was Internet access at the restaurant area. The surrounding area had many baobab trees making the name Baobab Soleil very fitting. One could take walks around the area with no safety concerns. Suggestions: If possible, have an Internet router so that people who like to do some work or read online could read in their rooms or patio instead of going to the restaurant, which is often loud with people talking and also has a lot of flies. Also the weaver birds on the large tree close-by make quite a racket that can be tiring after a while. I was there 3 nights and wished to do some work in my room, but could not do that and was a bit disappointed. All in all, it was a good 3-night stay at the hotel.
Hotel Royam

We stayed at this hotel for two weeks in February 2024 as part of a TUI trip. We really loved the hotel, in particular the traditional African look of the rooms, the beautiful garden grounds of the hotel leading straight to the beach, well stocked in beach chairs and umbrellas. The room was beautiful with a little terrace, built to stay cool in the heat. The AC was one of the quietest I have experienced. The pool, whilst not the largest, was more than sufficient and also surrounded by the lovely gardens and a very pleasant place to stay. It could do with a bit of renovation with tiles missing and a bit more thorough cleaning, and was very heavily chlorinated which was a put-off for swimming any length of time. I loved the food at the hotel with an extensive breakfast buffet, as well as generally fantastic dinners. Some days there were buffets and some days it was a set 3 course menu with 3 choices of starters, mains and desserts. I much preferred the buffets which were real events, particularly the seafood buffet (buffet de la mer) and the grand buffet. No drinks are provided at all with dinner so most people ordered payable bottles of water every day. There was a lot of choice of seafood including oysters, sea urchins, which I was quite impressed with. Dinner was generally accompanied by live music. During the set menu days it was sometimes hard to get served and very very slow at times, particularly on days when there were tables of large groups of (important?) people, and if you came a bit later than the 7.30 start of dinner. For us it was particularly slow on the first day when we arrived, a Monday, when I was also really hungry after the flight! Unfortunately after the second week's buffet on Wednesday I also suffered very severe food poisoning and was in bed the whole of Thursday with vomiting and diarrhea, I could not really eat for a few days, it was terrible. I do understand that these are things that happen in such hot weather despite all the precautions being taken by the hotel. There is a lovely beach bar by the hotel beach with a Saturday happy hour. I think it would have been lovely to have a daily happy hour. While the beach looks pleasant enough with palm trees and lovely chairs, several showers, the water feels absolutely freezing at about 22c when the air temperature reaches 39c some afternoons. The sea is the fridge! Basically the sea is too cold and the air. too hot. And it is not white sand nor turquoise, so kind of ok but that's it for the beach. The hotel has security guards at the beach so that guests do not get hassled by beach vendors, which really helps. Unfortunately they do not stop the people approaching you when you actually go in the water, which can still be a bit of an annoyance. Overall for the trip, the hotel was the best part, as we did not much enjoy the country of Senegal which had nothing to offer in the way of attractive sights. Prices for restaurants, trips and everything are sky high and completely ridi

🛖☀️ Hotel opening its doors on a beautiful small beach. Presence of transactions, palm trees, cocotiers, shelter and immediate access to the sea. Various types of boxes with or without private terraces. Very good WiFi connection. 🛌 Clean room, well furnished and spacious shower room. Comfortable beds. Presence of bed mosquitoes and air conditioner. 🍽 Good meals even if prices are a little higher though correct, probably given the location of the establishment*****t. 🙋 A nice, smiled and very present staff. Managing out-of-peer dynamics. A adorable servant, laughing and radiant.

The Rhino Resort Hotel & Spa

Excellent hotel with just a few minor drawbacks, none of which should put others off staying here. The rooms are dark (I suspect most of them, certainly ours) as they are very long and the glass doors (which serve as windows) are shadowed. The wardrobe is unusable without a ladder (not provided) as the hanging rail is 3 metres up! The shower and spa bath need maintenance, but everything else in the room was perfect. Breakfast is chaotic - no other word for it - which would be forgivable if it was included in the room rate. Coffee, when available (just one filter machine, have to ask them to fill it) comes either as ultra-strong bitter or dishwater, omelettes can take 30 minutes to arrive, availability of other things variable. Dinner quality is good, but takes forever to come - we waited 1h 40m for our main courses! But... the price is good and the rooms and pool areas are fine.
