"This is a large hotel, about a 40-minute walk from Central Station. We did not use the bus, but it was only a short walk from the Baviere bus stop. I am very friendly because I told me how to reach the hotel by email. I can recommend it to self-catering people because I have a kitchen with breakfast."

SSonyazExcellent location, the center of the old town, very convenient for shopping. You can take bus No. 1, No. 2, No. 3 from the train station for 2.6 euros. But the hotel does not have a kettle and the window cannot be opened, which is a bit uncomfortable.
RRumpleteazerThe hotel Is slightly outside the city center, however, it is easy to reach with a tram which stops just a few dozen meters from it and runs very frequently.
The interior of the hotel is clean, modern and functional, although from a 4-star hotel we would expect some more amenities in the bathroom, such as a shower cap or some cotton disks. In our room everything worked well. The only thing is that for two people we only had one small bottle of water in the fridge, which we shared, and one big towel, which was signalled to the reception and another one was promptly brought to the room.
The weirdest (almost unacceptable) thing happened when, upon check-in, we asked the reception if it was possible to eat something at the hotel at that time (about 5pm), the answer was, ”you need to contact the hotel's restaurant yourself”. Surprised but not discouraged, we called the restaurant from our room, just to learn they were not open until 18:30, which was kind of late for us to start a meal as we have tickets for a show at 20:00 at Le Forum.
It ended all ok, we found a nice place to eat downtown, but I think that, at a 4-star property, this is an immediate job of a concierge or a reception agent to help guests find their dining options instead of sending them to contact the restaurant directly.
Other than that, everything went smoothly, the breakfast was pretty good, the only recommendation is to think of installing another coffee machine, as with the only one available, there were always a few people waiting for their coffee.
GGuest UserI stayed at Van der Valk Hotel Spa during a solo trip and was very pleased with the choice. The hotel is conveniently located - right in the center of Spa, next to the thermal baths and a green park where it is pleasant to walk and relax.
The room was very cozy, clean and well-equipped. I was especially pleased with the spacious bathroom and comfortable bed - everything contributed to a comfortable stay. The hotel has a calm atmosphere, which is especially important when traveling alone.
The staff was attentive and friendly, always ready to help and answer questions. Breakfast pleased with its variety: fresh pastries, fruits, hot dishes - everything is tasty and neatly served.
For me, this place was a great point for recovery and recharge. If you are traveling alone and looking for comfort and tranquility - Van der Valk Hotel Spa is definitely worth considering. I will be happy to come back again!
GGuest Usereverything is okay. Convenient but too near from the train station. At night.there are some drunk people outside and the ringbell from the train is working from early morning. Not good for your sleep. But otherwise.everything is okay.
YYmanWe had a good stay at Aux Etangs. The hotel staff were friendly and the room was clean and quiet. It’s a good location to explore the Ardennes region. Acces by car is good but public transport might be challenging. As there are not a lot of eateries nearby we ate at the connected restaurant. The food was good but the waitress for our table was not very helpful. We asked if she could speak slower but she just continued at the same rate. We felt we didn’t get the same level of service compared to the other tables due to our fluency in French. In the end: nice food but upgrade your French first. We would come back for the hotel but not the restaurant.
GGuest UserGreat hotel with kind and helpful staff. The beds are huge and comfortable. Bar/social area is nice and quality of breakfast is quite good. However, the breakfast area is too small on a weekend when everyone crawls toward the buffet around 9:30.
GGuest UserIt felt like a 5-star hotel. There's a pleasant lobby with a library and lounge, offering free coffee, cream, tea, and water. There's a kitchen, and comfortable, spacious rooms with 8 wooden bunk beds, each with curtains. The lockers secure with your room card, so no extra padlock is needed. Each room has its own shower and toilet. There's also a terrace with a view of the train station, which is only 50 meters away. An excellent and very affordable place. I heartily recommend it.
GGuest UserLocation is excellent, room was also nice but having a see through door to the shower can be kinda awkward if not travelling as couple - can easily be solved with a translucent film over the door. Service was good but luggage is stored in a hallway that anyone can access, which doesn't feel safe. It was put in a closed backroom after I asked, but it would be better if this was standard.
GGuest UserHelpful reception personnel and overall a pleasant stay. Good shower and nice clean rooms. The sleeping couch was not so fine to sleep on but overall good. Breakfast was outstanding. Unfortunately the swimming pool was not included in the room price. Opening hours 8-22 was in my opinion too late to open in the morning.
