As someone who frequently stays in hotels, I found the hardware facilities to be good, but the service fell short. My overall experience was not great. Here are a few points I found unsatisfactory:
1. The communication during check-in wasn't pleasant, though they did allow me to check in early.
2. The breakfast quality was decent, but there were too few seats in the restaurant. Having to walk around with my food, searching for and waiting for a table, is something I've rarely encountered.
3. I saw food delivery drivers going directly to guest rooms multiple times. Do they not need a key card to access floors?
4. The toiletries were in wall-mounted dispensers that required a lot of force to use, especially the conditioner. This was particularly difficult for me as I had an injury on my hand.
5. I had confirmed a late checkout until 3 PM via Trip.com. I understand the front desk might not have been aware, and a simple phone confirmation would have sufficed. However, I found their passive-aggressive tone about me not mentioning it proactively to be unprofessional.
I won't list other minor issues. Personally, I don't expect hotel staff to be overly enthusiastic, but they shouldn't make guests feel uncomfortable. The 2-star service rating is specifically for the two ladies at the restaurant's front desk around 9:30 AM on the 20th. They were consistently warm and greeted guests throughout my stay, leaving a strong positive impression.
On the positive side, the hotel facilities are new, the room layout is good, and the soundproofing is effective. It's located near a plaza or residential buildings, so it's not noisy. The hotel is also very close to Zhangye West Station, and with a parking lot, it's convenient for those traveling by car.

This hotel is super convenient, close to all the attractions. The room was spotless, and I loved the smart tech – everything worked perfectly. The self-check-in machine was a lifesaver, so quick and easy! The staff were incredibly warm and attentive, and the complimentary drinks and thoughtful little touches really made our stay special. Great location, excellent value for money – definitely the top choice for accommodation when visiting Zhangye!

Choosing this desert camp hotel is an absolute no-brainer; you won't be disappointed. The location information is transparent and readily available, right on the east side of Mingsha Mountain, offering exclusive access to a sand dune, making it incredibly quiet and pleasant. The room amenities are mostly complete and feature major brands, plus they provide complimentary snacks and plenty of bottled water. The butler service is also excellent, responding to requests 24/7 and offering activities like travel photography and ATV experiences, ensuring both a happy stay and fun activities. However, since it's deep in the desert, you'll need to tolerate some dust. Also, the electric kettle in my room was broken, so I'd recommend that they promptly check and update the room equipment.

The hotel I stayed at in Dunhuang was quite interesting, called Dunhuang Hotel, but it's actually just a small three-story hotel.
**1. Rooms and Facilities:**
I'd advise you to book a twin room, as they are very spacious. The single or queen rooms, on the other hand, are incredibly small, I'm not sure what the design idea was there. What's truly frustrating is the poor soundproofing; you can hear people jumping around upstairs, which is really annoying.
**2. Price and Service:**
Even during the off-season in Dunhuang, this hotel wasn't particularly cheap, but overall, it was acceptable. The service was also quite ordinary. I was shocked at check-in when, even at 3 PM, my room wasn't ready yet, which felt absurd. I initially wanted to switch rooms, but ended up not doing so.
**3. Dining and Amenities:**
The hotel doesn't offer complimentary breakfast. If you ask about it, they'll just tell you to pay extra. Of course, eating out in Dunhuang is also an option.
**4. Complimentary Activities:**
The hotel also offers a so-called ”Western Splendor Tour” or something similar. However, it's a group tour with over 50 people. How do these large bus tours make money, you ask? It's all through commission on ticket sales.
So, overall, this hotel is quite average. The kickbacks are significant; for about 40 people, they can get around 1,000 RMB back, meaning 20-30 RMB per person. Because that tour route has so many scenes and attractions, it's all about earning commission. Therefore, I truly don't recommend this hotel. Maybe someone on Xiaohongshu recommended it, so I tried it, but it would have been better to just go for a more standardized option like an All Seasons or Hanting.

Zhangye Jinglong International Hotel was a remarkably hassle-free and satisfying choice for this trip! The hotel is very new overall, and the environment is clean and tidy. Upon arrival, the front desk staff were warm, efficient, and exceptionally attentive. They even thoughtfully upgraded us to a cozy family room for a small fee, and we received exquisite welcome fruits and yogurt upon check-in – such thoughtful and heartwarming details. The location is also excellent, very close to the Giant Buddha Temple, making sightseeing incredibly convenient. There's also the Aegean Sea Shopping Park nearby, which is great for dining and shopping. Overall, the stay was comfortable and worry-free. Choosing this hotel for your trip means no regrets; it's a top-notch, foolproof option for visiting Zhangye~

I had a fantastic experience at the Lang Ting Wen Hua Hotel. From the moment I arrived, the service was exceptional. I was pleasantly surprised with a free room upgrade, which made my stay feel even more special and comfortable.
The buffet breakfast was wonderful, offering a wide variety of delicious options that provided the perfect start to each day. One of the best parts about this hotel is its prime location; most of the major nearby attractions are easily accessible by foot, making sightseeing incredibly convenient.
If you are visiting Wuwei, I highly recommend staying here for the top-notch hospitality and unbeatable location!

I have three criteria when booking a hotel: a separate wet/dry shower area, a laundry room, and breakfast. Ibis perfectly met all my requirements, offering a washer, dryer, and detergent. Plus, the washing machines have only two settings, which saves everyone time. In Europe, Ibis is my go-to for budget accommodation, and the Jiayuguan Ibis offers excellent value for money. It's no exaggeration to say it's just a two-minute walk from Jiayuguan Station with your luggage, and multiple bus routes start right outside the hotel. The front desk staff are all very kind and friendly. The room was new, very clean, and had a huge TV. Everything about it was excellent. On top of that, the hotel hosts meetings for large state-owned companies, and you know what that means – it's a good hotel!

This guesthouse was absolutely lovely! The room was spacious and very clean, and the two big beds were incredibly comfortable. The biggest surprise was the huge projector in the room – watching movies at night while lounging in bed was pure bliss. Plus, there was a smart toilet, which was very convenient to use.
I also really enjoyed the common areas. There's a massive book bar with tons of books; sitting there, daydreaming and sipping tea was incredibly relaxing. The courtyard environment is beautiful, with lots of trees providing shade and a sandpit for kids to play in. It feels really suitable for families with children. The best part is that there's also a big golden retriever at the guesthouse – super well-behaved and friendly, so you can even pet the dog if you like. It was incredibly therapeutic!
Overall, it felt like a very relaxing and stylish little courtyard. The owner has great taste. I'll definitely come back to stay again if I get the chance!

The room is great, and the amenities are well worth the price. The cleaning staff (Ayi) is very warm and helpful, accommodating special requests for tidying up. It would be even better if the balcony were cleaner and had outdoor furniture like a table and chairs. The front desk concierge was also quite enthusiastic.

I always stay at this hotel whenever I have a layover in Lanzhou. The free transit accommodation is never available, so I have to book a room. No matter how late I arrive, they're always there to pick me up, and the airport drop-off service is great too. It's very clean and the rooms are spacious.

GGuest UserRight from booking, the butler contacted me and sent the hotel's location, an introduction, and even a carefully prepared travel guide and food recommendations, which was excellent. Upon arrival, the butler met me at the entrance, and check-in was very quick. The room was great, with new facilities, and I slept wonderfully all night. Breakfast was absolutely fantastic, and check-out was even faster – instant! The butler saw me off, and what was really touching was that my car had been thoroughly cleaned (a pleasant surprise, and no charge!). If you're staying in Zhangye, I highly recommend Wangshan International Hotel.
GGuest UserMy stay here exceeded expectations! The hotel's location is superb, directly facing the Yellow River, offering expansive views. I could enjoy the magnificent river scenery right from my bed. The room was clean and tidy, with new facilities, and the bedding was so comfortable I slept soundly.
The front desk service was warm and attentive; check-in was efficient, and they thoughtfully provided recommendations for local attractions and dining. The breakfast had a wide variety, including authentic local specialties. Overall, the service, environment, and hygiene were all top-notch. If you're coming to Lanzhou, this place is definitely my first choice – highly recommended!
GGuest UserThe room was spotless and fully smart-controlled, which is super important for travelers. After a long day of sightseeing, it was great to just say a command and have the lights turn on or the curtains open. They even had a foot spa tub at night to soothe away the fatigue, complimentary tremella soup, and some snacks. Plus, the price was excellent! Overall, I had a fantastic stay and would definitely book here again next time I'm in town.
GGuest UserThe boss was very enthusiastic. I contacted him one day in advance and waited for us at the station early the next morning. The accommodation was close to the East Gate. We said we were going to Crescent Lake and Mingsha Mountain. The boss took the initiative to drive us to the Middle Gate, saying that we could save 20 yuan on the shuttle bus fare. The next day, we signed up for a tour group to go out and play. The boss also sent us to the boarding point early in the morning. The boss was afraid that it would be inconvenient to go back after the Crescent Lake Music Festival, so he also came to pick us up, making our travel very convenient. The accommodation environment is also very good, and the steamed bun for breakfast is particularly large.

AAnonymous UserThe best aspect of this stay was by far the owner. He was incredibly, incredibly helpful and friendly — from the moment I walked in the door he offered me a cup of tea, then provided tea and bread the next morning for breakfast, offered advice on what to see in the area, arranged a car to take me to Dalzong Lake, and finally even found me a spot on a local minibus going to my next destination. I couldn’t have done half the things I did during my stay in Xiahe without his advice and efforts on my behalf, so that alone made staying here fully worthwhile!
It’s worth mentioning that the guesthouse’s architecture is also absolutely beautiful, and everything looks quite new. It’s located down a quiet side alley off of one of the main commercial streets in town, which seems like the ideal placement.
On the accommodations: I stayed in one of the two tents erected on the second floor of the guesthouse. This was largely quite a good experience! The bed was very comfortable (with a heated pad), water and towels provided, etc. The tents are not in a closed-off area, but rather on the second floor/balcony area that also is used for sitting, serving tea, etc., so privacy is somewhat limited, but the whole guesthouse is relatively quiet anyway so it doesn’t feel like a public space. My only suggestions for improvement would be related to the bathroom: during my stay, the shared bathroom for the tents was a sort of temporary-style booth installed in the corner of the room with a toilet, sink, and showerhead. The bathroom was very clean and everything inside worked well, but its sliding door separated from the wall enough that there was always a substantial enough space on one side or the other that could be seen through (the door also didn’t lock and slid back and forth easily). The booth was also small enough that, realistically, I think it would be a bit of a challenge to actually use it to shower. If possible it might be worth looking into some simple fixes to improve these situations, but otherwise I have no complaints!
GGuest UserThe train station basement had no internet connection so I was not able to get DiDi. Not only did I overpay even after negotiating, but the driver spent the beginning part of the trip texting and I had to swing my arm across him as we were about to rear end another car. 20 minutes later arrival at Maiji Shan park entrance. The friendly owner was already there and immediately helped me with my bags. A few minute drive to the expansive farmhouse. I asked for a bowl of noodles which was hot and delicious provided by a grandmother woman. Chinese farm Breakfast was plentiful. I used the heat as the mountains got cold quickly when the sun dropped. The immaculate room was large with two double beds, a tv and desk. The bathroom had integrated toilet and shower so it is wet. Plenty of hot water tho the turn on was a matter of button pressing. I learned something new! Toiletries and paper towels (another first) were provided. The owner took me to Maiji Shan. Sadly, it was closed; rain had made rocks fall making it dangerous to climb the stairs. Nevertheless, I took some photos. I tried to walk back (beautiful fall day), but the owner met me along the wayThe owner and I communicated via WeChat translator. DIdi was not available and as we started for the train station the bus came behind us. So the owner put me on it and I wrote via the app. The bus drives very slowly but I got to the station to run back and forth with my bags, then going to a different floor to get a paper ticket, then back to the waiting area, thru the gate, up the stairs, and finally to my sleeper car. Outside of asking me for my passport and various tickets about 10 times no personnel was particularly helpful tho I was noisily wheezing. As I was getting off, Another passenger grabbed my bags and ran down the stairs with them and then went back to the train. Probably someone in the medical field! Platform smoking and between cars smoking can affect some people.
XXiaoQbumojiOverall, I'm satisfied. The price isn't expensive, so it offers decent value for money.
Facilities: The room itself is quite good, on par with your typical Mercure or Ji Hotel in a city. However, there's a disconnect with the public facilities like the laundry room, elevators, and restaurant, which are a bit subpar, more like a guesthouse.
Environment: It's right next to the night market, so the location is excellent. There's also a shuttle bus across the street that goes to the Mogao Grottoes.
Hygiene: There were some blind spots for cleanliness. On the day I checked in, there was still a positioning sticker from the previous guest's bathtub liner stuck to the tub. It's not a major issue, but it does show the level of hygiene.
For around 200 yuan, it's a very good price. If it were peak season, they'd need to improve a bit more. I regret not taking photos of the interior, but the hotel's pictures are accurate and trustworthy; the actual room is exactly as shown.
GGuest UserTake the kids for a change of scenery! This B&B in Dunhuang is perfect for bringing kids. Any photo you take will turn it into a life-like portrait!
1. The rooms have a unique design, and I love the overall style. The bed in the family room is huge, and my two adults and two children slept very comfortably. The first-floor exterior view is beyond stunning, and any photo you take is a masterpiece. It feels so luxurious. The room is clean and well-lit. It's a perfect vacation for kids in Dunhuang!
2. I was initially worried about smells and other issues with the new renovations, but after arriving, I realized that this wasn't an issue at all. Full marks!
3. We arrived during dinner time, and unexpectedly, the B&B had food available. We ordered a few dishes, and they were surprisingly delicious. I recommend the fish and the big plate chicken—incredibly delicious!
4. The hotel's amenities, including amenities and appliances, are all very complete. They even have a capsule coffee machine. For someone like me who works in an office every day, daily coffee is a must! ☕️ This is truly a must-have! 💕
5. Staying here with children is hands-free; they can play in the pool and sandpit all day without leaving the house!
This stay was truly wonderful. I'll be back!

GGuest UserThe environment here is lovely. When we visited, the area was surrounded by apricot blossoms, and from the rooftop, it looked like a beautiful sea of flowers in the desert. The bedding was comfortable, and the hotel was very quiet during our stay, so we slept wonderfully. The breakfast was also quite unique, featuring apricot juice and beef noodles. On our second morning, we had to leave very early, and the owner even prepared packed breakfast bags for each of us. The only downside is that the facilities could use some improvement, especially the hot water for showers, which was often unavailable.

AAnonymous UserIf life is a never-ending journey, then the camping trip at the Desert Star Hotel is undoubtedly a highlight of my journey.
When I arrived at the campsite, the first thing that attracted me was the unique tent house. Unlike regular tents, the top of the tent is made of special transparent materials, like a huge viewing platform, which builds a bridge of communication between me and the vast galaxy. As night fell, I couldn't wait to lie on the soft bed, and when I looked up, the bright starry sky was presented to me without reservation. The stars twinkled, like gems inlaid on the black sky, beautiful as a dream. At that moment, the world seemed to press the mute button, and the impetuousness and noise in my heart were instantly soothed. The unique beauty of this quietness made me intoxicated.
It is worth mentioning that the hotel staff is very considerate. After placing the order, the customer service guy at the front desk added our contact information and gave us some local travel tips, which saved us a lot of time. From the warm reception at check-in, to the careful guidance during the activities, to the warm greetings at night, every detail made people feel cared for. They not only provided me with thoughtful service, but also made me feel the simplicity and enthusiasm of the desert people.
This desert camping trip not only allowed me to appreciate the magnificent scenery of the desert, but also experienced exciting and interesting activities, which became an eternal and beautiful memory in my heart.
