Hotel Posada de Don Rodrigo Panajachel

My wife and I stayed the nights of June 8th and 9th at La Posada de Don Rodrigo and had a very positive experience. The room (lake view) was very spacious, clean, comfortable and well kept. Location was really good, breakfast was enjoyable and the very well kept landscape made the hotel look very different and typical. Our greatest gratitude to Gerardo (who checked us in), Gustavo, the manager, who was always very on top of everything to make sure that all was going extremely well during our stay, and also Wendy whom we spoke to for a long time at Reception before we departed from the hotel; she was so professional, friendly and nice that definitely left the last very positive impression on us from La Posada De Don Rodrigo. We would like to highly commend the Housekeeping, Restaurant and all rest of the Staff members for having been so kind to us from the beginning to the end of our stay. Muchísimas gracias a todos por habernos tratando tan sumamente bien y haber logrado que pasáramos una estadía excepcional llena de atenciones y gentilezas. Siempre les recomendaremos!!!! Our group of 15 people arrived tired, bedraggled and soaking wet from having been caught in a downpour at the Chichicastenega market and then traveled for 2 hours by bus to reach our hotel. The staff quickly booked us in and handed out the keys to us, so we could strip off the soaking wet clothing, and have hot showers. The tables were attractively set with the local textiles and colored glassware. They rustled up some delicious soup and warm dishes. Some of our party managed to use the inviting pool, but we were kept too busy during the days that we stayed at the hotel. The meals were all beautifully presented and delicious. We did manage to hold our book club meeting in the games room that the staff allowed us to use for this purpose.

Hotel is nice. Beware no AC and just a fan for the room. The hotel is well worn, but service is amazing as everyone is super friendly, view from the room of the lake is beatiful, and the pool area is very nice. As far as the restaurant there upon entering the Cakchiquel Restaurant, you will likely be greeted by a warm and inviting atmosphere that showcases elements of Cakchiquel culture. The restaurant may feature traditional artwork, handicrafts, and decor that pay homage to the indigenous heritage of the Cakchiquel people. I enjoyed Pepián, a hearty meat stew made with chicken, simmered with a thick and aromatic sauce composed of roasted seeds, chilies, and spices served with tortillas and the steak special which was tender and cooked nicely.

Location is wonderful, the territories of the super hotel, there are hot sources. The room is good, convenient, there are storage spaces for the hangar, convenient bath. A lot of greens and flowers, very beautiful. There is a euro socket that is rare in Guatemala. The only thing that doesn't fit all beauty, the chumy staff, is very badly responded to requests. Simple request to pour hot water for tea and give a cup turns into a problem and we see dissatisfied people.
