Travel Diary: Discovering Nyuto Onsen Village This trip started out as a simple decision—just seeing pictures of the beautiful onsen and the hotel's breakfast and dinner package! It was such a compelling decision that I didn't even bother researching the location. What surprised me most was finding my hotel near Nyuto Onsen Village, a famous historic hot spring village, with a clear view of Lake Tazawako. I spent time exploring the village's seven onsens, each with its own unique charm and hot spring qualities, making this trip even more rewarding than I had anticipated. Upcoming Itineraries: I've already made up my mind that on my next trip, I'll book a hotel during a heavy snowfall so I can soak in Tsurunoyu Onsen. The sight of the outdoor baths in the snow is absolutely captivating. Soaking in the milky hot springs in the winter atmosphere is truly an unforgettable experience. • Location: Nyuto Onsen Village, Akita, Japan • Highlights discovered: View of Lake Tazawako, seven onsens • Next goal: Soak in Tsurunoyu Onsen during the snowy season

The hotel boasts an incredibly convenient location, right next to JR Akita Station, making it super easy to get around and explore other areas. While the room wasn't huge, its practical layout made it perfectly sufficient for our family trip, even allowing us to comfortably open two suitcases. The hotel staff were all incredibly polite, and the service was excellent. The breakfast was truly delicious – I highly recommend adding it to your reservation! You'll get to taste rice balls made from Akita-produced rice, along with a variety of other local Akita specialty dishes.

The hotel has a very good location. Although not immediately next to the JR station, it's a short and easy walk to get to the hotel from Akita Station. When you see the Museum of Art in the photo, you are arriving. Also, the famous Senshū Park is just across from the street. It's a grand hotel with nice rooms. The staff are friendly and professional. It's not far from the bar district. There are many interesting bars over there. After a couple of drinks, you can just walk back to the hotel.

The hotel is easily accessible from JR Akita Station West Exit, just a short walk across the street via a covered walkway. A 7-Eleven is conveniently located on the ground floor, and the Akita Museum of Art is just a short stroll further, making its location excellent. The hotel is new and impeccably clean. The bathrooms are quite spacious, though with the excellent large public bath (onsen/daiyokujo) available, we didn't bother using the in-room shower. The on-site laundry facilities were very convenient. Breakfast offers a fantastic selection, with an abundant spread of both Western and Japanese dishes, far surpassing what you'd expect from hotels in the same category. Nearby, there's a restaurant called Honke Abeya, renowned for its Akita Hinai chicken – a local specialty that comes highly recommended. Highly recommended!

I booked this hotel because the price was cheap, and I was very satisfied. The room was small, but there was no strange smell, which was nice. In the evening, they even served ramen, drinks, and snacks! There was also a large public bath, so I was able to stretch my legs and relax and relieve the fatigue of my travels. The amenities included makeup remover, lotion, and milky lotion, which was very helpful. The breakfast was also delicious and the best. There are many good hotels and inns that are worth the money, but I can only take my hat off to the quality this much for this price.

Service - the service was one of the best and most hospitable in Japan I've come across Location - it is just located 5mins' walk from the Yuze Onsen JR station (though it is a local line with not very frequent trains - about 3-4 a day). yet they have a shuttle service to cover that 2 mins drive! Dinner - the food was well presented and delicious. onsen - There are 2 onsens, one indoors and one outdoors in the snow. they were comfortable (although they did not have a fantastic view, but it does its job). temperature was right and wea almost had all of it to ourselves.

The location is very convenient, right next to JR Akita Station, close to the city’s tourist attractions. It‘s great that the hotel has a gym, and the restaurant on the top floor also has local characteristics, good service, and delicious food. But for some reason, the door of my room could not be closed normally, which made me very confused.

About a 7-minute walk from Akita Station, directly opposite Seibu Department Store. It's not far from various city attractions, making dining and transportation convenient. It rained heavily on the day we stayed, and the hotel even provided free umbrellas, which was really great. Breakfast was okay.

The location is first-class, self-driving can be parked in the isolated multi-storey parking lot, free parking, the parking lot has an exit directly to the back door of the hotel. The only fly in the ointment is that the room is really small, but other places are full marks, the room is very clean, although it is a small room but not Semi Double Bed, the mattress and pillows are very comfortable; the bathroom towels and supplies are very complete; slippers are equipped with disposable sanitary insole, and there are two free bottled water in the refrigerator. The most satisfying thing is that you can enjoy the free hot spring at the ”Horizon Front Hot Spring” two minutes walk.

We drove to the hotel and appreciated the big free parking available. We also noted the proximity of the train station, so location wise, it is convenient yet gives the sense of seclusion which is perfect for relaxation. Check in was a breeze, the English proficiency of the receptionist with the printed information in English good enough. the Onsen was large and the outdoor part was a joy! i particularly enjoyed my time there soaking in the hot water, listening to the sound of the flowing river and watching the fauna. food spread, quality and quantity at both dinner and breakfast was excellent. i noted that the staffs were diligently topping up items that were running out even to later in the meal times, unlike some places where they may just not do so. We booked a room with open air bath and it was worth the money for it! would totally do that again when i return and highly recommended. must compliment the lounge with their welcome drinks and rice crackers which you can help yourself to. although its just rice crackers, it a nice touch, perhaps adding some nuts is my only suggestion. would highly recommend this place to stay if around, in fact we deliberately chose to stay here to break our journey from Hirosaki to Morioka, so glad we did!

We stayed two nights. It was a great experience. Room itself is good, bed is comfortable. Got onsen and free half portion of ramen and rice after 7:30pm, which is a bonus. Ramen is delicious. However, service for a part-time staff (a girl) was bad! This is the first time we experienced such bad service in Japan. First, her greeting was mean and rude, with no smile on her face and kind of ignoring the customer. Second, after we got the room key and get ready to take the elevator, we didn't know the way. She just kept ignoring us which a normal staff would show you the way to the elevator right after finished check-in. Lastly, after we entered into the room, we found out that the toilet seat was loosen. So we went down to the lobby to tell her about these. She was so unhelpful that she did not even want to come up to our room to see what happen, but just tild us to use the toilet in the lobby instead! At the end, luckily there was another senior full time staff just on duty, we told him about this, and he immediately went up to our room to see what happen. Will give this senior staff a 5 star. So other than that part-time staff (girl), all were pretty good.

Even though the hotel is located in the highlands very far (not within walking distance) from JR Tazawako Station, with the help of the hotel staff at JR Inn Sapporo JRイン 札幌 where I stayed at from May 7 to 10, she helped me to call KAMENOI HOTEL TAZAWAKO亀の井ホテル 田沢湖 to book the hotel's station pick-up service (complimentary) from JR Tazawako Station (田沢湖駅) but had to wait quite a while as the hotel’s pick-up is only available at 3.30pm. There isn’t much to do around the area which has a lot of abandoned buildings, shops and hotels etc. in a state of akiya. But that doesn’t dampen my mood at all as I get to immerse myself in the traditional Japanese ryokan experience of buffet dinner and breakfast (both were excellent), onsen and wearing the traditional yukata. Although the hotel’s open-air onsen (rotemburo) was temporarily closed due to damage during the winter period, the hotel has partnered with another nearby hotel to allow guests to make use of the other hotel’s rotemburo.

This hotel is right next to a underground rock concert shop. It has frequent tenants who played there or attend the concerts there. If you are driving , you won’t be able to get their parking slots as it mostly reserved for the regulars. The nearby parking lots charges 400 Y from 4pm-8am so if you arrive shortly after check in time and decide to head out early the next day, you may use the 2 carparks that is right beside the hotel. If you can’t make it in time, the hotel cheapest parking option is behind Lawson where they have monthly season parking lots. It’s 600 yen per night from 3pm to 10am. room wise, price to value is below average probably becos of high demand in the vicinity. As for cleanliness, can be better improve. My aircon filter and air filter machine was producing really moldy and smell air , probably from previous guests who sweated in the room. Was a big turn off lucky I came during autumn, can just open the window to get cold air in.

The hot spring facilities are excellent, the food is delicious, and the staff are attentive and friendly. In terms of value for money, it surpasses many high-end hotels in major cities. It also has suitable arrangements for preventing bear sightings. Highly recommended!

A great time at this hotel. The staff were professional and the hotel was nicely done up. The room was very comfortable and the toiletries were nice too. Getting there in the snow with slush on the streets was not much fun though. Not too far from the train station, but still a decent distance away.

Also very well equipped - whatever you need for your stay - you got it! And bathroom is unbelievable! never seen something so original and beautiful! And is more - the staff. They picked me up from the station and also next day. Not just picked up - they were so nice to drive me to Samurai residence I wanted to visit! Fantastic place, great service. I hope to come back! Very nice hotel and a comfortable stay. We didn’t try the restaurant but we enjoyed the lounge area with free drinks and icy-poles. Air conditioner/heater was very loud in the room we stayed in but apart from that, perfect. Staff are excellent and very helpful.
