Asawann Hotel

We stayed here for 3 night just after New Year. Hotel is in a good location next to Shopping Mall and a short walk to local market & Mekong River. A reasonable nightly rate with breakfast included. The receptionist was really helpful and efficient but the Hotel was obviously past its best not just because lack of guests / coffee shop etc due to covid .... in the room itself I can honestly say that the mattress on the bed was the worst and most uncomfortable of any hotel I have ever stayed at in my life ! very hard and lumpy probably the original from when hotel was built and I had bites from numerous bed bugs ! Lighting in the room was not bright enough just a couple of small yellow bulb wall lights - toilet had a job refilling at times but a nice powerful shower and breakfast was ok.

We book the most expensive one and found that it is bright, spacious and nice. staff are friendly and smiling and willing to give the service they can. Breakfast is ok but coffee is not as good. I asked for fresh coffee but need to wait for later as staff who prepare comes later around 09.00 but we need to leave for other area. So far so good for the area around nong Khai. Owner is nice and very helpful.
Klang Muang @ Nongkhai Hotel

I only made this place average because that fact is it does not have a lift. It was roughly forty steps up to the room lugging a bag up. The rooms here are quite small however ok for an overnight stay. I would commend the hotel on its cleanliness and comfort too with the bed. I had a good nights sleep here and didn’t notice any noise in the night, however in the morning I realised there was a lot of noise filtering into the room as other guests were leaving and as the cleaners started so don’t expect a lay in even though the check out is at midday. It has a small room offering a cofffee service however your better off wandering up or down the road to find a a breakfast. Parking was easy when I got here at two, however looks quite limited if you were a late arrival. They also wanted a 300 baht refundable deposit. Overall it was value for money and pretty central for most things in Nong Khai.
Park & Pool Resort

Booked and paid with trip.com and got a last minute rate for a room for 2 for less than 700 Baht. Have stayed in another hotel in Nong Khai for 650 Baht with no breakfast and have viewed several other hotels/guesthouses of the same price, so to me this is the better deal where we can swim. The resort is old and outdated so bed sheets and stuff are old but the value is very good. Breakfast is a simple buffet so I could eat until full with 3 types of fresh fruits, salad, 7 types of foods, pork boiled rice, rice, etc. No boiler in room but guests can use the hot water pot at Reception. Aircon worked well. Glass windows at front. A small glass window at back. Shower room door is opened to outside so it takes up the space of the room. We ate lunch in the Cafe. A huge bowl of soup costs 120 Baht. Rice 20 Baht a dish. Both of us were so full with 160 Baht. Smiling Reception and other staff at the Cafe. Fast check in and fast check out. We booked the room and arrived by tuk tuk about half an hour later and they saw our prepaid booking. I other places we stayed, Reception sometimes asked for the payment since they didn’t notice that the bookings were paid for. I was very happy when I checked in here. They have swimsuits for rent at 60 Baht if you don’t bring yours. They have a weird notice saying you will be fined if you swim with not proper swimsuits. Normally we don’t see this notice in upscale resorts. From Nong Khai train station, cross the street, walk to the right into a small street where you see the resort signage. Turn left and walk for a few minutes. Park & Pool is on you right.

This is such an amazing hotel that is well maintained and run by a family who are super friendly, kind and helpful. I got a free pick up and drop from the train station, breakfast was amazing, rooms are super clean, quiet and safe. The hotel is situated on the Mekong River, not too far from the Thai-Laos border post. They have a pool which is great for those hot days. The owners are very happy to help you plan your sightseeing in Nong kai and will give you advice on how best to get done what you have planned. I really enjoyed my stay here and I would recommend it if you’re planning a night or 3 in Nong Kai :)
Vana Wellness Resort

We spent one night in a corner room (107) the room was fairly large with direct access to the pool. We are a family of two adults and three children and asked for an extra bed to be put in the room, on arrival we found a 2-inch thick mattress with a sheet laid on the floor beside one of the beds when we complained about it as we had been charged an extra 400 Baht for the extra bed a lady brought a bed base and put the mattress on it. The room we stayed in a couple of years before was 1,800 Baht before but now we were charged 3,500 Baht which I thought was a totally unreasonable price increase. When we stayed here before the pool had some tiles missing from it and I thought it was a hazard then, I assumed a couple of years later the problem would have been resolved but I was surprised to see It was actually worse, there were many tiles missing from the sides as well as the floor of the pool creating a substantial hazard to people using the pool. I, unfortunately, cut my toe on my left foot on the edge of a tile!! The breakfast is ok but missing western foods, and milk for coffee, they have only dried cream powder. Luckily I had some fresh milk in my room . All in all, I would say it is expensive and not really safe for kids to swim and I probably will not return until these problems have been resolved

For the price point, an excellent hotel. Friendly helpful staff. The day manager, she went out of her way to make it an enjoyable stay for us, excellent English. The free hotel bikes were a bonus, made getting about so much easier. Don't bother with the bedside charge sockets, I think they feed power back into the grid :) Good breakfast with enough choice for a western meal, one was photo worthy.

Nice Hotel. Loved the Sky bar great views when the sun is setting Decent Breakfast good selection nice to eat breakfast outside next to the lovely Koi fish pond. No porter service but there are lifts so no problem. Bit of a walk into town but there is normally a tuk tuk waiting outside the hotel. Nice massage shop turn left outside the hotel first one you come to. Also a good market right behind the hotel. Food and drinks in the sky bar are also very reasonable prices. I would definitely stay again if I was in the area.

Royal Nakhara Hotel and Convention Centre

We travelled up to Nong Khai for the recent balloon Festival and had a room booked at the Royal Nakhara Hotel. As we drove in to the hotel car-park, we were impressed from the outside. Check-in was quick and easy and when we entered our allocated room, it was obvious that the décor and furnishings were a bit tired and dated - but not a problem. However, as we looked around at the room and amenities we noticed several things to disappoint us. First, we saw an enormous birds nest sat right on top of the aircon unit outside on the balcony. The balcony doors were locked (with no key) so we could not even go onto the balcony, but as the view from the balcony was of surrounding metal factory roofs, we had no great urge to go onto the balcony anyway. Walking around the room and bathroom we noticed quite a lot of long black hairs on the floor, obviously from the previous guests and when checking out the bathroom, noticed toothpaste stains and splashes all over the washbasin mirror above and, human defecation waste around the rim of the toilet basin. It was obvious that the room had not been cleaned to a sufficient standard for the next guests. We really did not feel comfortable to stay here and notified the front desk, where a member of the management team and the housekeeper came to check on our findings. After showing them what we were unhappy with, the two members of staff went into the bathroom to discuss it but we could hear them talking and were shocked to hear that they thought we were making a fuss over trivial things. We decided that we were not comfortable to stay in the hotel any longer and asked to cancel the booking and we would find an alternative hotel. The staff initially refused to cancel the booking, then agreed, but said we would need to wait 15-30 days to receive a refund, which was not acceptable, considering that payment had been made instantly when booking the room. After further discussion and upon our insistence, the hotel did refund us the cost of the room and we sought to find alternative accommodation. We have no problem with a room being tired or dated, but that is no excuse for it not to be clean also, and the attitude to our concerns we heard being discussed (”its just only this, its only that”) were simply not acceptable for a service industry facility.
