We are delighted to invite you to join the critically acclaimed Fairfield County Chorale's annual Gala, featuring an auction to benefit the Fairfield County Chorale. All proceeds will directly benefit the Fairfield County Chorale so it may continue its mission to perform a broad range of classical and contemporary choral music for the benefit of the community and to champion the appreciation of excellence in choral literature. The evening will offer a three-course seated dinner, open bar, and an exciting silent and live auction—all culminating in an intimate private performance by internationally acclaimed baritone Marcelo Guzzo. Praised by The New York Times as “strong and charming” and by The Boston Globe as “majestic,” Marcelo brings extraordinary artistry and presence to the stage. This special performance promises to be a true highlight of the evening. Dress code: Black tie optional. About the Fairfield County Chorale: The critically acclaimed Fairfield County Chorale is now in its 63rd year continuing its mission to perform a broad range of classical and contemporary choral music for the benefit of the community and beyond, and to champion the appreciation of excellence in choral literature. Led by our esteemed music director David Rosenmeyer, our objective is to keep the choral tradition alive in the diverse Fairfield County community and surrounding locales by reaching out to area individuals, including church and temple members and students from area schools, as well as community organizations, and by performing joint concerts with other musical groups of similar high quality. In our performances, we strive for authenticity, presenting the deeper meaning intended by the composer, in the belief that this enriches the musical experience of not only our members but also the community at large. In addition, the Chorale has also made a number of highly-regarded commercial recordings — most recently, Haydn’s "The Seasons." Throughout our history, the Chorale has presented more than 250 choral works, with more than 1,800 singers participating over the years. We have presented a number of local, U.S., and world premieres, and have appeared in such prestigious venues as Carnegie Hall and Lincoln Center in New York and the Kennedy Center in Washington, D.C. The Fairfield County Chorale is a member of Chorus America, the Association of Connecticut Choruses, and the Cultural Alliance of Fairfield County, and the Norwalk and Westport Chambers of Commerce. Our upcoming Trip to the Mechanic event gives students an inside look at how aircraft are inspected, serviced, and kept airworthy between flights. During this visit, you’ll tour a professional maintenance hangar and meet the A&P mechanics who keep our fleet in top condition. They’ll walk you through what goes into routine inspections, common squawks, and preventive maintenance practices - all the details that ensure each airplane is safe to fly. You’ll see up close how components are repaired, what tools are used, and how logbook entries tie into regulatory compliance. Plenty of opportunities to get hands-on, see components up close, and ask the mechanics any questions you’ve always wondered about. This experience will give you a deeper appreciation for the mechanical side of aviation and help you understand what to look for as a pilot when identifying and reporting issues. Whether you’re a new student or a seasoned flyer, this trip connects the dots between pilot operations and aircraft maintenance in a way that’s both practical and eye-opening.
