CONTACT PAINTING POT FOR AVAILABILITY These fun-filled art sessions are a great way to meet new likeminded people in a creative and relaxed environment. Even if you haven’t touched a pencil since primary school, with step-by-step guidance of professional local artist Joyce Buzeman of BuzemanArt, you will create your very own master piece. Also when you are more experienced, we assure you will go away with new paint tips and paint ideas. We provide all the paint, brushes a 30 x 40cm canvas and other materials that are required. All you need is a to turn up with a good dose of enthusiasm. Why not bring your friends, family or colleagues… Our aim is to unleash your own painting style and encourage you where needed. Join us for a relaxing sound bath experience in the serene settings of Selby Abbey's St Nicholas Room. "Who knew Sound could be so Good" A " Sound bath " is an immersive meditative sound experience . It's good for the mind and it's good for the soul. It promotes positive mental health and can raise your vibration. I try to take you on a journey of self-discovery, you may see colours, you may have an emotional release, you may even meet people and beings on your journey. Your journey is personal to you; to be kept for oneself or to be shared, the choice is up to you. The sound bath lasts approximately an hour, but I've allocated an hour and a quarter so as not to be rushed. There are contraindications that come with every type of healing, please read all the questions. If you are unsure if you can attend, please consult your doctor. My list of contraindications does not preclude anyone from not attending. Don't forget if you are wanting to attend, you'll need to bring a Yoga Mat or comfortable chair, a blanket and a pillow . Pendyrus Male Choir was formed on the 24th May 1924 in the small mining village of Tylorstown, situated in the heart of the Rhondda Valley. In 2024 the band celebrated it’s Centenary year in style! Pendyrus at 100 becomes the longest serving male choir in continuous existence in the Rhondda Valley. The Choir’s centenary celebrations have seen a full calendar of performances and concerts, beginning with a highly successful centennial weekend festival with a gala concert supported by our very own Rebecca Evans and Sian Cothi. In June the choir toured Normandy as part of the 80th Anniversary ceremonies for D Day, followed by performances in July for HRH the Duke of Gloucester. In August the choir competed in the National Eisteddfod and also gave a candlelit concert to mark our 100th birthday. Over the years the choir has been privileged to perform with many of the worlds musical ensembles including the BBC National Orchestra of Wales, the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra & Cory Band. The Choir’s Historic achievements are extensive, we are the first Welsh male choir to perform at the Kremlin in 1979 and at the White House in 1984. The choir is also no stranger to television, with numerous appearances on BBC, S4C & ITV. We also have numerous recordings the latest with the charismatic tenor Rhys Meirion. Our centenary year also marks a watershed in our history with our longstanding and “longsuffering” accompanist of 51 years Mr Gavin Parry giving his last performance before his retirement. As we move into our next century it is fitting that we do so in the company of our incredibly talented new accompanist Miss Meryn Williams. Come and dream the night away... Join Celtic folk musician Olivia Graham for a gentle evening of sweet Irish lullabies, wistful Gaelic love ballads and original music from her new album - all woven together with tales and traditions of midsummers past. In her signature 'bardic' style, Olivia blends musicianship, storytelling and historical knowledge to create a unique evening's entertainment, brought to you in the stunning setting of Selby Abbey. PQA Selby, a weekend performing arts academy for children, is featuring "The Emerald City" as their Poppet and Green group's performance for the current term. The Poppets, for children aged 4-6 and Greens 6-8, will be preparing a mini-production based on the iconic Wizard of Oz story, allowing young performers to explore theatre magic and build confidence. Devised theatre, also known as collective creation, is a theatrical process where the script or performance score is collaboratively developed by an ensemble through improvisation, often without a pre-existing script. Everyone involved, including actors, directors, and designers, contributes to the creation, shaping the story and performance through a collaborative exploration and experimentation.
