Taking place from December 4th to December 8th, 2023 at the NDSM Loods, this masterclass is open to dancers, choreographers, architects, and artists. Under the expert guidance of Ropes Aligned and Isabel Cordeiro, participants will explore the exhilarating sensation of floating weightlessly high above the ground. This unique form of vertical dance redefines spatial perception and challenges conventional notions of movement and architecture. No prior dance technique or climbing experience is required to participate in this workshop. Ropes Aligned will provide the necessary techniques and tools to navigate the vertical plane, allowing participants to experience the joy and freedom of floating effortlessly through the air. In addition to vertical dancing, visual artist Isabel Cordeiro will guide participants in exploring the four elements through artistic expression. Throughout the week, participants will engage with thought-provoking texts and literary works that delve into the significance of the elements. From Octavia Butler's science fiction short story "Amnesty," which explores the element of earth, to extracts from Astrida Neimanis' "Bodies of Water," which examines the importance of water, this masterclass offers a holistic and enriching experience. The BAU Lab: Revolve/Unfold masterclass concludes with a public session on December 8th, where participants have the opportunity to share their insights and showcase the outcomes of their week-long exploration. Don't miss this extraordinary opportunity to enhance your artistic practice and discover the joy of vertical dance. Secure your spot at the BAU Lab: Revolve/Unfold masterclass today. Dance
Join the company classes of ICK and train together with the ICK ensemble (only for professional dancers and dance students). Emio Greco Double Skin/Double Mind (DS/DM) is a dance method developed by Emio Greco and Pieter C. Scholten to discover the sensitivity of the body and make it available for the creative process of dance. DS/DM focuses on four basic principles: Breathing, Jumping, Expanding, and Reducing. This method helps dancers explore the possibilities of movement their bodies can generate, both in choreography and in everyday life. By applying intentional and physical choices in response to various stimuli, such as words, movement qualities, sounds, music, and the presence of other bodies, participants can deepen their understanding of movement and develop a new experience of the body. If you have never tried the DS/DM method before, we recommend joining our open class. The schedule for our professional classes is published one to two weeks in advance due to performances. Please check our agenda or this page for the most up-to-date information. To ensure your spot, make sure to book in advance, as we do not sell tickets at the door. Please arrive on time, as late entry is not possible. The entrance to ICK Space for Dance Art is located at Rijnlandlaan 3, right across from Delflandlaan 1 in Amsterdam.
