Join us for the Silversmithing Level 1 - Meet The Butane Torch class, taking place on Saturday, March 2nd at NW Rockhounds in Seattle, WA. This fundamentals class is perfect for beginners on a budget or those working in small studio spaces. Led by the experienced instructor, Christina Bengtson, participants will learn about the safety and proper use of the butane micro torch, an essential tool for any silversmith. During this fast-paced class, students will explore different butane torch options and learn about basic fire equipment and metal cleaning solutions. Working with materials such as sterling silver, fine silver, and copper, participants will also develop valuable skills like flame control, metal gauging, annealing, work hardening, flattening, texturing, and shaping wire. By the end of the class, students will leave with their own earrings and pendants crafted from their chosen metal.
