Please make sure currency is set to CDN to see full price. Avoid extra fees - book at Artventuresstudios.com A perfect choice for beginners or intermediate pottery wheel students. A pottery wheel class is a creative and hands-on workshop where participants learn the art of creating pottery using a potter's wheel. The class is typically led by an experienced potter or ceramic artist who guides students through the process of shaping clay into functional or decorative objects. The class usually begins with an introduction to the pottery wheel, its components, and how to operate it safely. Participants are taught proper body posture and positioning to effectively control the wheel. They learn how to center the clay, which is a crucial step in creating well-balanced and symmetrical pieces. Once the basic techniques are covered, students start practicing throwing clay on the wheel. The instructor demonstrates various throwing techniques and encourages students to experiment with different shapes and forms. The focus is on developing skills such as pulling up walls, shaping vessels, and creating textures or patterns on the clay surface. Throughout the class, participants receive individual attention and guidance from the instructor, who offers tips and suggestions to improve their technique and troubleshoot any challenges they encounter. The hands-on nature of the class allows students to learn through trial and error, gradually refining their skills as they gain experience. Pottery wheel classes provide a supportive and collaborative environment where participants can interact with fellow students, share ideas, and appreciate each other's work. It's a chance to explore one's creativity, learn a new skill, and create unique ceramic pieces with one's own hands. At the end of the class, participants have the opportunity to keep their finished pottery pieces. Some classes may also offer the option of firing and glazing the completed pieces, allowing participants to have fully finished ceramics to take home and enjoy. Optional- pieces can be painted and kiln fired once dry. Information Source: Artventures | eventbrite

Promoting awareness and inclusion for people with developmental disabilities in the Oakville community. Community Living Oakville (CLO) is a non-profit charitable organization that has held a longstanding reputation within Oakville and the Halton region for over 70 years. Our agency supports over 300 people with developmental disabilities to develop skills towards independence and participate in meaningful opportunities; striving for community inclusion. CLO strongly believes in the importance of advocacy for those that are vulnerable or underrepresented and we empower the people we support to advocate for their rights of equality and inclusion within our local community. While our organization is ministry funded, the support received only covers basic everyday essentials – like food, shelter, utilities, transportation and staff. And like most government funded service providers; we often need to do more with less. For the past 3 years, Community Living Oakville held our Annual Food Truck Friday event in partnership with Sheridan College as a way to bring people we support together, and raise awareness to our organizations. After a successful event, we are incredibly excited to hold our event this May in the heart of Oakville Towne Square where we can strengthen our partnerships with community facilities and local businesses. In effort to bring awareness and education to the community about people with developmental disabilities and their involvement within Oakville, we invite you to join us during the month of May - Community Living Month - to celebrate diversity and inclusion together. By building community partnerships, we have witnessed increased community awareness and inclusion – contributing to an inclusive community for all. We invite you to participate in our 2026 Food Truck Friday event taking place on May 29th from 12-2pm at Oakville Towne Square. Please contact, Andrea Lee at andrea.lee@oakcl.org for more information. Information Source: Community Living Oakville | eventbrite
