The Walters Art Museum in Baltimore is delighted to offer PreK-12 students the opportunity to embark on a guided tour of our extensive collection. These tours aim to foster a deep appreciation for art and stimulate meaningful discussions among students. The museum provides two options for in-person school tours: docent-led or self-guided experiences. To secure a docent-led tour for your school group, simply complete the registration form. Our guided tours run for 75 minutes and are available on Wednesdays at 10:00 a.m. and 11:30 a.m., as well as on Fridays at 10:00 a.m. It's important to note that tours require a minimum of ten students and a maximum of 80, with one chaperone required per group of ten students. Our collection offers a variety of captivating tour themes tailored to different grade levels. For instance, the Ancient Cultures tour invites students in grades 2-12 to delve into artifacts that illuminate the art, mythologies, culture, and daily life from around the world. Meanwhile, the Telling Stories in Art tour, suitable for grades K-12, challenges students to decode and interpret stories and themes depicted in artworks, honing their narrative analysis skills. Younger students, from PreK to grade 3, can explore the Animals in Art theme, where they will discover how artists throughout history have depicted real and imaginary animals and habitats. All tours at the Walters Art Museum are free of charge. However, we kindly request a voluntary contribution of $7 per student to support the sustainability of our educational programs. Furthermore, we are pleased to offer a limited number of bus stipends for Title I schools in Maryland, which can partially or fully cover bus expenses.
