Following on from the Artists Together session we held this summer looking at fundraising, Andy Cave the team leader for the Arts in Libraries team will be holding two sessions for voluntary arts groups looking at basic fundraising skills and techniques. The first session will focus on planning, looking at funding jargon such as outcomes and outputs, finishing off with looking at various sources of funding and the pros and cons of each. The second session 25 November will take the learning from the first session for you to be able to apply this to your own funding needs and then look at compelling ways you can demonstrate your need for funding through an application. Each session will be about two hours long and the numbers are capped at 16. It helps if participants have an idea of what they're looking for in terms of funding, so they can relate the learning to a real life example. He is the author of the novels Never Never (2008) and All The Places I’ve Ever Lived (2017) plus short story collections Sawn-Off Tales (2006), Aromabingo (2007), The Half-Life of Songs (2010) and More Sawn-Off Tales (2013). The Guardian said: ‘One hundred and fifty words by Gaffney are more worthwhile than novels by a good many others.’ His graphic novel with Dan Berry, The Three Rooms In Valerie’s Head, was published in 2018 on Top Shelf, and David and Dan’s second graphic novel Rivers came out in 2021. This fun event is for all abilities, you can run, walk, skip or jump with friends and family round the 4km loop! Entry is just £5 for adults and £2 for children/young people aged 5-18. Children under 5 are welcome free of charge. Every paying participant will receive a hat to wear on route, plus a medal when you finish! (If you would like a Santa Hat and medal for a child under 5, you can pay the £2 if you wish). All profits will go to the Mayor's Charity; The St Helens Young Carers Centre.
