Suwon Hwaseong Festival | Suwon
Celebration
Hwaseong Fortress, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, hosts the Suwon Hwaseong Cultural Festival every autumn. The festival's highlight is the "Parade of King Jeongjo," a re-enactment of King Jeongjo's visit to the tomb of his father, Crown Prince Sado. Over 4,000 participants, dressed in traditional Joseon costumes, parade along a 59-kilometer route in spectacular fashion. The "King Jeongjo Dasobangwa" attraction, where visitors can savor royal cuisine from the banquet of Lady Hongji at Hyegyeong Palace, is particularly popular with international tourists. The festival also includes fortress-building experiences, nighttime tours, and various re-enactments and performances, all related to Suwon Hwaseong Fortress.
