Latest Events in Koga(February Updated)

The Koga Chrysanthemum Festival is held every year from October 27 to November 23 in Koga Central Park. The event is colorfully decorated with about 1,200 potted chrysanthemums, and also displays fascinating works by flower lovers, such as waterfalls of flowers and carefully arranged flowers that bloom continuously from a single stem. Throughout its 28-year history, visitors can enjoy the various changes in these flowers every time they stop by.

The fireworks display will be held in Koga City, Ibaraki Prefecture, and will create a magnificent and luxurious fireworks painting in the night sky of the Watarase River. The event will host a series of exciting events, including the launch of two three-foot-high fireworks, a giant sparkler that fully utilizes the venue's characteristics, and the invitation of Japan's leading fireworks manufacturer, Nomura Fireworks Co., Ltd.

Held in Koga Park, this large-scale industrial festival features a different theme each year. Over 100 companies and shops set up booths, attracting crowds of people to enjoy food and shop. There's also a children's play area with rides and activities like hero performances. There's also a variety of exciting events, including dance, Japanese drumming, and wind band performances. Temporary parking will be available during the event, and shuttle buses will be provided.

The Koga Lantern Sao Momi Matsuri is a local festival where people collide lanterns on long bamboo poles against each other to put out each other's fires, which is quite interesting. This is a traditional winter event in Koga City, held on the first Saturday of December every year. This is a festival where groups from all over the city rub lanterns on the end of nearly 20-meter-long bamboo poles violently to put out each other's lanterns. It is called "the strange festival in the Kanto region."
