Wednesday 19th February 10am -11.30am Intergenerational Workshop Autin Dance Theatre are incredibly excited to be working in partnership with Warwickshire Libraries on their Cultural Beats Programme, offering local people in Warwickshire the chance to move and dance in their local libraries. From this summer until International Dance Day next year on Tues 29th April 2025, we will be delivering FREE, fun and accessible creative workshops for EVERYONE across the county. No experience necessary, just an interest to give it a go and get moving! The programme will also culminate with free events on International Dance Day with a celebration of dances and street games from around the world! This is a family first aid course, for one adult and one child to attend, that will be teaching basic lifesaving first aid skills. The course is 2-hours long and in that time, you will learn how to assist a casualty by learning about: CPR How to use an AED Bleeding Choking When we call 999 Why we would call 999 All Children will come away with a certificate, as well as these new and very important skills. FAQs Do parents / guardians stay? Yes. This is a course for one adult and one child to learn basic life saving skills together. What age should the child be? It is suitable from age 6 upwards. What if I want to bring more than one child? Tickets are for 1 adult and 1 child. The course is delivered by theory and practical demonstrations and delegates can have a go with the fire extinguishers and fire blanket to put out different fires. The course covers the latest fire safety regulations and the roles and duties of employees and their responsibilities on Fire Safety. The course is designed to meet and comply with the Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety) Order 2005. It covers how fires are started, methods of controlling fire spread, evacuating the building, fire briefings and risk assessing. On completion of the assessment, delegates will receive a certificate, valid for 3 years and can sign up to receive weekly videos to refresh and keep up to date with changes. This event is an opportunity for current OPAL schools to connect with an OPAL Platinum Award school, get their questions answered, and discover new and exciting ideas. Agenda 12pm Arrive 12pm – 1pm Observation of playtime Come and see a platinum OPAL playtime in action – ask the children about how they manage risk and the grown-ups about the changes they have seen. 1pm –2 pm OPAL school networking Discuss your journey with other OPAL school colleagues – share your successes, top tips and ways to overcome some of the challenges. About St Paul's CofE Primary School St Paul's is a Church of England school that places its values at the centre of everything they do. The headteacher, Lindsay, joined in September 2022. The SLT is passionate about the opportunities that should be afforded to all of their children, especially play. There are approximately 450 children on roll (from reception to year six). The school has a large loose parts shed, a large and natural sandpit, a digging area, water play, den building, tunnels, music, dressing up, arts and crafts, a beautiful sensory forest area and wheeled play area. The play team is very committed to continually improving their play offer, led by a fantastic OPAL working group – and helped by their very supportive parents and local community. The level of purposeful engagement of every child at playtime is awe-inspiring. Additional information Parking is not available at the school. Please find a suitable lay-by close to the school. Venue - Nuneaton Fire Station Newtown Road Nuneaton CV11 4HR Time - Arrival from 0845 - 0855. Course starts at 0900. Course ends approx 1330. Please do not arrive before 0845. Strictly no admittance to the course after 0900. If you arrive after this time you will not be allowed to join the course and will still be charged for the place. You will need to rebook on a later date. Parking is not available on site. Blue badge holders should contact us prior to the course. Nearby car parks are listed below: Harefield Road car Park, CV11 4HR is a 3-minute walk. NCP Newdigate Street, CV11 4EU is a 7-minute walk On arrival do not go to the front door of the fire station. We are based in the training and development centre, which is down Newtown Road (take the side road off the main Newtown Road, this is between pets at home and the fire station) and through the red gate, which is behind the fire station building. There is a bell on the fence to the right of the red gate, under a cover. Ring the bell and it will alert staff in the training building. We will then come and open the gate for you, please note, it may take us a few minutes to get to the gate, so please only ring the bell once and then wait for us to arrive. Please take care when walking through the yard as there may be vehicle movement or drill training. The training building is through the gate, past the garages and turn right at the end of the yard. Trainer - Warwickshire Fire and Rescue Breaks will be arranged by the trainer during the session. You will need to bring your own drink(s) with you and also a pen and paper. Some of the assessment is carried out on a mannekin on the floor, so please advise us if this could be a problem for you. We cover several different topics of which some maybe of a sensitive nature to yourself e.g. CPR, choking. Please can you let us know in advance if this would cause you any distress, and we will contact you to discuss this prior to the da ID - You are required to bring photographic ID and must show it to the trainer when signing in. Failure to bring ID will mean you will not be permitted to attend the course and will have to re-book. You will still be charged. Communication - the course will be conducted in written and spoken English. Members of staff will be required to participate fully in the session.
