Dursley Walking Festival Event 1 - Linear Walk Minchinhampton - Dursley Join us for a scenic walk from Minchinhampton to Dursley on October 1, 2025 at 9:15 AM (Europe/London) . Lace up your walking shoes and get ready to explore the beautiful countryside! Come prepared with clothing suited to October weather, walking boots, a packed lunch, snacks, and a flask and/or water. We will take a coach from Dursley Bus Station to Minchinhampton A walk through some glorious Cotswold villages and countryside with typical honey coloured limestone cottages perched on slopes and along valleys. The route starts east of the village of Minchinhampton and drops to the Nailsworth Valley (one of the five valleys of Stroud) where we will walk through the lovely trout ponds of Ruskin Mill. Then up and through the hamlets of Rockness and Shortwood above Nailsworth and along Miry Brook and the Nympsfield valley. From there the route continues toward Coaley Peak and joins the Cotswold Way to walk over Uley Bury and Cam Longdown, and back to Dursley past Chestal House. It is a hilly walk but well worth it for the views, particularly if the weather cooperates. Your Walk Leader for this event will be- Paul Lewington from Dursley Rambling Club Meeting Point - Dursley Bus Station, GL11 4JH (What Three Words - ///cups.sisters.immune Start Time - Please arrive at the bus station by 9:15 to allow check-in and a prompt departure at 9:30 Event Length - 13 Miles Expected Duration - All day Event ***** Your ticket includes your transfer by Coach to the Starting Point ***** If you are driving to the Start Point please see our Parking Information Below. Free parking is available in Dursley for up to 24 hours at the Council run May Lane and Long Street car parks. The May Lane car park is the most convenient to catch the bus for the linear walks. However, these two car parks are often full during weekdays. There is parking at Sainsburys, in Castle Street, for a maximum of 2 hours, enforced with ANPR cameras. This can be extended for £2.45 using the Just Park website or on your phone when you visit - this allows you to park all day (to be confirmed when you book). Dursley Walking Festival Event 10 - Linear Walk Hawkesbury Upton - Dursley Join us for a scenic walk from Hawkesbury Upton to Dursley on Friday October 3, at 9:15 AM. We will take the coach from Dursley Bus Station and then walk back through the beautiful Cotswold countryside. It will be rough under-foot, and muddy if it has rained, so please come prepared with comfortable footwear and clothing, as well as drinks, lunch and snacks. Lace up your boots and get ready for a day of outdoor fun! Starting at the Somerset Monument near the village of Hawkesbury Upton, we will follow the Cotswold Way north along the edge of the Cotswolds escarpment. After a couple of descents and an ascent we will pass through the charming town of Wotton-Under-Edge. We then ascend again and proceed past the Tyndale Monument, before dropping down through the village of North Nibley prior to our final climb up to Stinchcombe Hill Golf Club and then down to Dursley town centre. Look out for fabulous views across the Severn Vale. Dursley Walking Festival Event 15 - Linear Walk A Riparian Ramble Join us for a walk from Fromebridge to Cam & Dursley Train Station on October 4, 2025 at 10:00 AM (Europe/London) . Lace up your walking shoes and get ready to explore the beautiful countryside! Experience the fresh air, stunning views, and great company as we embark on this adventure together. Don't miss out on this opportunity to connect with nature and fellow walking enthusiasts. Come prepared with comfortable clothing, water, and snacks. Let's make some memories and enjoy a day of outdoor fun! We will take the bus from Cam & Dursley Train Station to Fromebridge After a bus ride to Fromebridge, we will walk beside the river to Saul Junction and on to the River Severn. Following a climb up to enjoy the view from Barrow Hill, we will rejoin the Severn path at Hock Cliff and head for Frocester where we will stop for lunch. We will then walk through the historic village green and join the Gloucester/Sharpness canal path. Finally we will follow the River Cam to Cambridge, then under the motorway and over the railway to return to the Station in time for a Bristol train arrival.
