Join Salihah Saadiq and Torch Literary Arts for an extraordinary gathering called The Salon, modeled after the prestigious salons of the Harlem Renaissance. This unique event takes place at the iconic Antone's Nightclub in Austin, TX, showcasing the impressive talents of BIPOC womxn wordsmiths and lyricists in Central Texas. The Salon is not only a captivating open mic experience but also a curated listening journey that celebrates the power of black expression and liberation. 

Poets and songwriters are encouraged to participate in the open mic by signing up in advance. Please arrive early to secure your spot on the list, as only a maximum of 10 performers will be accommodated. Each performer will have three minutes to captivate the audience with their artistry. The cost of admission is $10, and 50% of the proceeds go towards supporting the crucial work of Torch Literary Arts.

Salihah Saadiq, a dedicated editorial and live event/music photographer, is devoted to amplifying and preserving black voices in Austin. As a 501(c)3 nonprofit organization, Torch Literary Arts plays a vital role in publishing and promoting creative writing by black women. They have proudly featured the works of esteemed authors such as Colleen J. McElroy, Tayari Jones, and Natasha Trethewey, among others. Torch Literary Arts also offers a range of programs, including the remarkable Wildfire Reading Series, enriching writing workshops, inspiring retreats, and exceptional special events.

As a regular tourist thought the process of entering the Parliament House was very cumbersome, but I didn&#39;t expect to check the bag I took with me to visit. Built in 1885, the building covers 51 acres and was designed by architects modeled on the Capitol in Washington, DC, and was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1970 and was named a National Historic Landmark in 1986. Amazing the passing of the world does not affect its appearance and internal structure, as always brand new, visitors can visit the government office, have time to visit around the building outside, from all angles to enjoy the century-old building.
