My child absolutely loved this room! Besides being spacious, it was incredibly well-equipped. They even provided free earplugs and makeup remover wipes, not to mention complimentary tricycles and bicycles for exploring the ancient city. It was very quiet at night, making for a peaceful sleep. And the front desk staff? Their service was exceptional – truly made our stay comfortable and pleasant. The breakfast, served on a street in the ancient city, was just a few hundred meters away.

A Must-Stay in Datong! I'd come back to this Siheyuan B&B a hundred times! My first trip to Datong, I came with an anticipation for the ancient city, but unexpectedly, a Siheyuan B&B (courtyard guesthouse) stole my heart and became a lasting favorite. Jiuheli is tucked away in the most central location, right by the South Gate of the ancient city. It’s an oasis of calm amidst the hustle and bustle. Instead of towering buildings, it's a traditional Siheyuan with one ground floor and two underground levels. The grey bricks, dark tiles, wooden corridors, and expansive courtyard with dappled light seamlessly blend the elegance of traditional Chinese architecture with modern living comfort and exquisite, delicate design. The entire guesthouse has only 9 rooms, each named poetically: Luxi, Weiyu, Xianzhou, Hewan, Chunxiu, Rimu, Yunting, Wushi, Qinghe. They are few but refined, quiet but beautiful, offering a sense of peace the moment you step in. I stayed in Luxi. The name is inspired by ”Zhanzhan Lusi, Feiyang Buxi” from the Book of Songs, evoking the clear and gentle morning dew. Stepping out, you're in the courtyard, and the floor-to-ceiling windows bring natural light and greenery indoors. It's quiet, spacious, and private, free from noise, only offering relaxation. The room features smart home controls, luxurious bedding, high-quality toiletries, and thoughtful details that are just right. It's simple yet sophisticated, comfortable yet effortless, with delightful surprises at every turn. Every day spent here was filled with warmth. Gentle breezes in the courtyard in the morning, quiet tea sips in the afternoon, watching the ancient city sunset in the evening, and soft lamplight at night. The outside world's buzz is gently kept at bay, while your inner self feels endlessly healed and content. There's no complicated dining here, but that's perfectly fine because just a few steps away are the ancient city's time-honored eateries and vibrant local life. This allows you to truly immerse yourself in Datong's rhythm of life, feeling free, relaxed, and at ease. The housekeeper is discreet and never intrusive, yet always thoughtfully attentive. Welcome fruit, hot tea, meticulous care – no over-the-top service, but you always feel valued and well-treated. Meeting Jiuheli on my first visit to Datong was truly a stroke of luck. Comfortable, quiet, stylish, and warm – the perfect experience, elegant surroundings, and heartfelt details made the entire trip exceptionally fulfilling. Next time I come to Datong, I will undoubtedly choose this place again. And I sincerely recommend Jiuheli to every first-time visitor to Datong. Stay once, and you'll understand that the best travel isn't about ticking off sights, but about finding peace of mind. And for peace of mind, Jiuheli is the place.

The staff were so so friendly and super nice!!! Told them it was our honeymoon and there was a handwritten note with fruits and snacks waiting for us on the table. They didn't have to, but they did ☺️ when we left, we were rushing for the train and didn't have time to eat breakfast. The staff were so concerned we were skipping breakfast she quickly packed some food for us to go and even ran after us to pass us cutlery because she forgot to pack some. Would recommend staying here 10/10!

I chose Nan She for both of my trips to Datong, spaced about twenty days apart. The first time was by chance, but the second was a deliberate choice, both reflecting my high appreciation for every aspect of Nan She. It's located right beneath the North City Wall of the ancient city, close to Daiwang Mansion and Kuixing Tower. Its proximity to the main road makes getting around very convenient. The entrance to the North City Wall is just a few minutes' walk away, offering a superb spot to watch the sunset over the ancient city. The breakfast at the guesthouse is absolutely delicious. The rooms are spotless, and the bedding is clean; every detail is perfectly executed. The overall service is beyond words – attentive, warm, and thoughtful. Choosing the right accommodation is a crucial part of enhancing the travel experience, and both of my stays here provided an excellent one. Datong is a city you'll want to revisit; the more you get to know it, the more you'll love it. The blend of history and modernity, delicious food, and beautiful scenery offers endless appeal. The room was spotless and spacious, with a separate shower and toilet. The bed was incredibly comfortable, and the decor and materials felt high-quality. The heavy, solid door gave a great sense of security. During the off-peak season, it offered excellent value for money, located right in the heart of the food and pedestrian streets. The service was warm and welcoming. Highly recommend staying here!

Traveling back to Inner Mongolia from the south, I could have stopped in Zhangjiakou for the night. But knowing Datong Hotel used to have bathtubs in its rooms, I decided to push on to Datong. Turns out, the bathtubs are gone, removed. (A bathtub, or the lack thereof, makes a difference in a hotel's class!) I asked the front desk, and they replied that many guests didn't like bathtubs. Do you honestly believe that 80% of guests, presumably referring to 'farmers' (a term the reviewer uses with a condescending tone, implying a certain demographic), dislike carpets? Are you going to remove all the carpets in Datong Hotel then? Do you believe that 50% of people dislike air conditioning? Are you going to rip out all the AC units too? At least keeping some rooms with bathtubs would have been an option. Besides, you can still shower in a bathtub. I can confidently say that the general manager of Datong Hotel understands neither hotels nor hotel management and operations. Are they just a mid-level bureaucrat from the state system?

Regarding the pick-up and drop-off service at Linfen West Station: The pick-up service was good, but when I booked it, they didn't ask for my order name or other details for verification, which seemed a bit unprofessional and indicated a slight lack of management. Also, when I arrived at West Station, no one contacted me until I called the hotel, and then the driver finally got in touch. There was a customer who needed a ride to the station, and I had to wait a bit. It would have been good to be informed about this beforehand so I knew what to expect. While understandable, not being told leaves customers unsure of the situation. The facilities, cleanliness, environment, and service were all pretty good. However, I hope management strengthens oversight on some of the food and water items. Don't provide items with a very long shelf life; customers might be hesitant to consume them, which leaves a bad impression.

My child's college entrance exam venue was near the hotel, and right from check-in, the front desk assigned me a quieter room based on my request. This was my first time staying in the Liuxiang commercial district in my hometown of Taiyuan, and it was a fantastic experience. This hotel offers incredible value for money among local hotels. The room was well-equipped, clean, and tidy, and the adjustable lighting is particularly worth recommending.

This hotel in the ancient city offers exceptional service. The night before check-in, they even called to ask if we were arriving by train or plane, as they provide pick-up and drop-off service. When we arrived, the owner noticed we were staying for two nights and knew we hadn't been able to book the same price for both nights on Ctrip. So, they proactively upgraded us to a higher-category room. Their attention to detail was truly thoughtful and considerate. The location is also very convenient, and the room itself was well-equipped with all the necessary facilities. By the way, the owner's homemade wine and vinegar are both excellent!

I booked this B&B hotel near Wuding Gate, inside the ancient city. It's on a street but surprisingly quiet. The room was spacious and bright, with a charming Chinese decor, featuring a canopy bed with comfortable and soft bedding. The bathtub, toilet, and shower were all separate, which was great. They even offered afternoon tea and bead crafting. From here, you can easily walk to sights like the Daiwang Mansion, the city wall scenic area, the Sculpture Museum, and Huayan Temple. The freshly made pastries for breakfast every morning were delicious. It's an excellent choice for a relaxing stay within the ancient city.
