Mercure Telford Centre Hotel

Great location just off the M54, easy to find and excellent free parking for guests. The hotel is modern and pleasant and the staff are really friendly and helpful. Our room was lovely with a king size bed, large tv, coffee machine and mini fridge, plenty of phone charging sockets and something I miss in a lot in hotels these days; a small dressing table area. The bathroom was spacious with a large walk in shower. We only stayed one night but wish it had been longer. The breakfast area was large and spacious with a great selection of cereals, pastries, fruit, yogurt, cheese and cold meets along with a wonderful selection for a cooked breakfast. I'm just sorry that we didn't have time to use the spa facilities which looked excellent. I can't recommend the hotel enough!
Macdonald Hill Valley Hotel, Golf and Spa
3.6/545 Reviews
I've attended the hotel for a wedding recently and can say that the dining room, food and staff were brilliant, although drinks were very expensive and the hotel room was very dated and I wouldn't say is a 4* hotel. This review specifically focuses on Leisure Club at the Macdonald Hill Valley. This club is for guests of the hotel or paid membership is also available. I have been a paid member for almost 12 months now. Staff are generally nice and welcoming, the PT sessions whilst good are expensive at £30 an hour (it was cheaper at David Lloyd down south where I used to live) and the classes are good, albeit the popular ones such as Pilates and Yoga fill up quick and ate often fully booked. It's also frustrating the quarterly change of the timetable which means you get used to a class to find its then on a different day and time and you can't make it, but I also understand it's so people have the opportunity to attend classes. My main bugbear is the lack of investment and maintenance. Membership is expensive and yet some areas are really dilapidated, such as the steam room (missing tiles), the women's showers and the women's changing rooms (there has been a hole in the ceiling where you can literally see insulation and wires for at least 3 months. Some things are an easy fix but are just ignored, such as a broken hairdryer (one out of the three was broken). This was reported time and time again for at least a couple of months (you get to talk to people in the changing room and you realise then multiple people have reported it). It took almost two months for them to stick a sign up to say not to use the hairdryer and then a couple of weeks later it was removed. We are now 6 months down the line and no hairdryer leaving only 2 hairdryers which have definitely seen better days (no nozzle etc)! As an expensive paid for membership, I like that you didn't need a towel or to take shampoo, conditioner or shower gel as they have Elmis products. Unfortunately, now towels are only available at an additional cost and in the showers there is only shampoo and conditioner (if they have bothered to replenish them) and no shower gel so if you've done a workout or been swimming there is nothing to wash with. Again, through changing room discussions we know this has been reported by multiple people but it can take weeks for anything to happen when you see staff sitting at the Reception Desk on their phones. One body lotion has been empty for at least a month and the other was removed when empty and never replenished. It's as if they just don't want to replenish them. The lockers are a frustration for many....out of about 60 lockers there are only about 10 that work. It seems the digital locks have broken but these are never fixed. It's now firmly in my brain which number lockers work and don't. If they can't afford digital lockers just replace them all with a catch and let people bring a combination lock but it's a waste of space that is doing nothing and a
Cbh Prince Rupert Hotel

My partner and I spent a great night at The Prince Rupert. Pros: it is a beautiful period building, in a fantastic location in central Shrewsbury. The room we had was pretty, with all necessary mod cons, with a very comfortable bed. Check in was easy and the breakfast, included in the booking price, was very good. Staff were friendly and knowledgeable and I would certainly recommend anyone reading to consider a stay. Cons: parking is a few minutes away from the hotel. There are lots of narrow roads up to the hotel and I would advise anyone at the hotel reading this to clarify exactly where the parking is to customers before booking. If this is widely available and I have missed it, then this is on me as a customer. The other thing is there were some darker, slightly dingy parts of the hotel when walking through to our room. Some of this will be due to the nature of the hotel being a period building, but if you are a customer looking for a light, bright, modern hotel, this is not the hotel for you. Please note my criticisms are nit-picks and nothing more. In summary: a very competitively priced hotel with a lovely interior/exterior, friendly staff and one I can definitely say is the kind of place you can take someone to impress them. Thank you for a great stay all of the Prince Rupert staff.

5 of us recently came for a Spa break including ,lunch, evening meal and breakfast. We each had 2 treatments each and had full use of the spa facilities. On arrival at Reception we were greeted by a lovely and very helpful lady who told us everything we needed to know. We checked into our rooms (3 rooms in total and they were the Superior Rooms) they were all spotlessly clean, with free Toiletries and complimentary tea, coffee and hot chocolate. We also had a gift in each room which was a bottle of Prosecco. Each room had a balcony overlooking the canal and countryside views, very relaxing. Beautiful rooms and decor with a safe, fan ,iron and ironing board. After check in we went for lunch where we had a lovely bottle of champagne to share and a Mezze Board each which consisted of fresh bread, breadstick, houmous, olives, pate, selection of meat, dips and new potatoes which was delicious. We then went to start our spa experience...again spotlessly clean facilities...Spa included,Sauna,Steam room, jacuzzi, hydro pool, swimming pool, gym, floating beds etc and a lovely relaxation room where we were served fresh fruit and fruit juice when requested. Plenty of water, green tea and herbal tea also available. We each chose to have the deep tissue massage...50 minutes each and it was absolutely perfect and they worked to your requests. The second treatment the following day we chose between us the Mud Rasul ,Massage Chair and the Floatation booth...between us we all agreed were absolutely fabulous. The whole spa experience was wonderful and relaxing, the lights in there were dimmed but enough light to see what you needed to see but made it even more relaxing a long with the calming spa music. On the evening we all went for dinner and drinks...we all had a 3 course meal...food freshly prepared and tasted delicious...empty plates all around. Breakfast the following morning was a buffet style...from full English to continental with tea, coffee and fruit juices...again very nice indeed. When we finished that day we were all given a complimentary gift each from the Spa ...a selection of lovely Toiletries and bag. The whole experience from start to finish was wonderful ,friendly and helpful staff, quality food, excellent spa, beautiful rooms ...would I recommend coming here? Absolutely 100% without a doubt...we came home feeling fully relaxed and content from our break away ...
The Lowfield Inn

Nice place to stay, staff were very friendly and attentive. The room had everything needed and the bed was very comfortable, my only complaint is that the only window in the room was a skylight which I hate and it didn’t open, the room was very hot and as I couldn’t open the window became quite oppressive. If I stayed here again I would ensure that the room had proper windows. I sneaked a peek in the room next to mine which was being used as a storage area and it would have made a fabulous guest room with a lovely view across the fields etc, I feel a real mistake was made in not making that a quest room. Had an evening meal and it was excellent, real tasty and plenty of it, even if I didn’t stay there I would pop in for a meal if I was passing. Breakfast was equally good, pre ordering the night before meant it was served promptly, bacon was fab, the sauted potatoes could have done with being a bit crispier but everything was well presented and great quality. I would stay again, but make sure I had a proper window.

We spent a wonderful weekend,at this great hotel. The staff in the reception on arrival could not have been more inviting. From there on everything got better. The bedroom was excellent, and very up-to-date and clean, the room we had , had a magnificent view down Ironbridge gorge. The facilities in the leisure centre are great , the facilities include swimming pool, steam room, sauna and hot beds, and finally we were able to get a massage. The golf course is a testing course, and well looked after, then after your round you can retire to the Gorge bar for drinks and a bite to eat. I would definitely recommend this hotel.
Ludlow Mascall Centre

This is my third time staying at the Mascall Centre. It is a cheap and cheerful option, compared to other accommodation providers in Ludlow. I always feel comfortable and safe in this environment, as it is very well run and maintained. I like the added bonus of free water from the dispenser at the top of the stairs. I was staying in the adequately appointed single room. Location is just a 10 minute walk from the train station and less to walk to the town. The building is set back from the road, so is quiet, especially at night. Plenty of on-site parking is available too. Since my last visit, they have installed a fully functioning kitchen / dining / TV room, where a lounge area used to be. This really is an added bonus and I made use of it during my stay. I was able to leave my bag with them after check out, so I could go next door for a big, tasty, full English breakfast (Athena restaurant) and have a final wander round the town and the open air makers market. Disliked · I feel the hand and bath towels could do with being replaced with better quality ones.

Mercure Shrewsbury Albrighton Hall Hotel & Spa
3.9/558 Reviews
This is my second stay at the Mercure Albrighton Hall. I really enjoyed my stay, Staff were friendly and helpful and the room was clean. I'm slightly disappointed in comparison to my last stay though, last time we were in a privilege room which was gorgeous and unique. We had booked the privilege room as a birthday celebration, so wanted something extra special, however this time the privilege room was nothing special, just a slightly larger than average run of the mill hotel room. There was nothing wrong with the room itself, just not as nice as our previous stay. If I was to stay again, I wouldn't bother with the room upgrade - I'd just stick to a standard room. The only flaw I can point out is the door to the lakeside rooms. The security door that's opposite the lake was open the entire time we were there. The door did not lock when it closed over, which was a security concern - especially at night time. The leisure facilities are great, the pool is a touch cold but this isn't anything major. The sauna/steam room selection is brilliant and there's plenty of room. There are male/female changing facilities and they have private shower and change cubicles which is a big win for me. I didn't choose to book breakfast this time as the price seemed excessive, and I'm not a big breakfast eater. Instead I went to Battlefield 1403 'sparrows cafe' which was a 5 minute drive away and was absolutely lovely! Overall it was a great stay and I will stay here again!
