Except for the airport and Tanjung Aru, the location is excellent; you can walk to the night market and other markets. What stood out most was the amazing ocean view from the room and the clean swimming pool. I especially appreciated the washing machine and drying rack, which were very convenient, and the hot water pressure was excellent. I didn't see a single bug! If I ever go back to Kota Kinabalu, I'd definitely stay here again. 👍 What to bring: Maybe an extra towel or two?

The room was much better than I expected, very spacious, clean, and tidy. The water quality in Kota Kinabalu is indeed just average, so I brought my own showerhead. Breakfast was excellent and plentiful.

The breakfast was fantastic, with a wide variety of options including Western and local Malaysian dishes. The location is super convenient, less than 1km walk from Gaya Street, so it was a nice stroll back to the hotel after dinner to help digest. The front desk staff, both the gentlemen and ladies, were always smiling. We communicated smoothly using a translation app. We also booked a Kawa half-day tour (2 PM - 9 PM) through the hotel. To our surprise, it was a private car and guide service for only 180 MYR – an absolutely amazing value!

The location is excellent, right downstairs from Suria Sabah Shopping Mall, and very close to Gaya Street, so it's not far from any of the attractions. The room was quite spacious and clean, but the hot water supply for the shower was really bad; even on full blast, it felt like it was only around 20 degrees Celsius. The breakfast selection was limited, and overall, the value for money was just average.

The room's location is pretty good. It's quiet and only a 10-minute walk to the beach. There's also a pool on the rooftop, and it's self-check-in. You can store your luggage at the security booth downstairs for 6-10 Malaysian Ringgit. It's a bit far from the city center, but there's not much to do there anyway, just eat and browse. The main reason to go to Kota Kinabalu is for the sea.

A superb historic hotel, the room was very clean and comfortable. Breakfast was buffet style and had different choices each day we were there. The afternoon cake and drinks were both great value and excellent quality. This was the best hotel we stayed at during our driving tour of Sabah. Highly recommend the Sabah Hotel if you are going to Sandankan.

This hotel is super close to Jesselton Point, practically the closest you can get for island hopping tours. While the facilities aren't the newest, I still highly recommend it for families. It offers a living room, two bathrooms, and two bedrooms, which is incredibly convenient for families traveling with both young and old. The rooms are also spacious, offering significantly better value than the Hilton we booked later. It’s perfect for families who spend all day out exploring. The hotel also has all the usual amenities like a restaurant and bar. Overall, it really excels in terms of value for money. To summarize, you get the size of a five-star hotel, four-star beds, three-star rooms, a solid four-star breakfast, a four-star view from the rooftop pool, and unbeatable proximity for island hopping.

This is our second time staying in 2 months. We had an upgraded room for our booking this time. Absolutely love the big room. It’s a one room studio with all the amenities. Only downside is the pillows are too big and hard for sleeping. Requested to change, and they managed to get a thinner one. Not perfect but better. Hope the management of this hotel look into the pillows provided. All of our friends had the same complaints about the pillow.

XXiaolanmaosarahThe hotel was really just so-so, but its location is great. It's only a 10-minute walk to the pier for boat excursions, and there are supermarkets and restaurants all around. However, I really have to complain about the hotel's service. We were two adults and one child, and we brought our own toiletries. We just wanted to ask for one more bath towel, but the hotel refused... Honestly, it's the first time I've encountered such a stingy hotel. I wasn't trying to take it home; it's just that two towels aren't enough for three people to shower. That's easy to understand, right? Seriously, it's speechless...

11391817****To be fair, my overall stay experience this time was quite good. Pros: 1. Great environment: The natural surroundings of the water villa are beautiful. We booked a sunset room and got to see stunning sunsets every day. The water was also very clear, making snorkeling and fish-watching easy. 2. Excellent service: The staff at the water villa were all very enthusiastic and accommodating, even helping us take photos with the glass-bottom boat. We happened to be there for New Year's Eve, and the villa specially arranged extra meals, fireworks, and small souvenirs. It was very thoughtful and made my family very happy. 3. Delicious food: Four meals a day – breakfast, lunch, dinner, and afternoon tea – kept us well-fed. Cons: The room facilities were outdated, and some things were broken, like the bathroom curtain and the showerhead. Additionally, the entire water villa, including the room balcony, is covered with wooden planks. Some of the wood isn't sanded smooth, making it easy to bump into, which is very unfriendly for children. You also have to be careful when walking.

AAkmaaalI recently stayed at Sutera@Mantanani for a-night, and it was magnificent an unforgettable island experience. The room was spacious enough for both of us! WE ARE SO HAPPY that they provides everything we needed for a comfortable and relaxing stay. The rooms are well-equipped with air conditioning, ceiling fans, flat-screen TVs, mini-fridges, tea and coffee making facilities, and safety deposit boxes. There’s no need to worry about bringing toiletries or coping with the island heat, as all essentials are thoughtfully provided, making it easy to unwind and fully enjoy the island experience. We spent the morning watching the sunrise and the tide coming in with the clean ocean and beautiful Mount Kinabalu.Other than that they also have kayak rentals, and there is many activities we have done such as sunset walk, ATV, volley ball with other guest, and a romantic night with a bon fire and skies full of stars. The staff were super friendly and helpful, especially during the boat transfer from Rampayan Jetty, they helped us load our luggage, AND they also very helpful in explaining the trip itinerary, ensuring guests could manage their time well and make the most of their stay, while also clearly informing us of rules and safety guidelines to ensure everyone’s well-being. Meals were served buffet-style in the resort’s open-air dining area, with fresh local seafood, grilled fish, nasi lemak, and tropical fruits, breakfast included eggs, toast, and local pastries. We appreciated that the chef accommodated a vegetarian request without issue. Overall, Sutera@Mantanani is a perfect island retreat, and I would came back here and highly recommend it to couples, families, or anyone seeking a quiet, nature-filled getaway.

AAnonymous UserFound a gem! I fell in love with this hotel after just one stay ✨ Staying at a perfect hotel while traveling is so healing! The entire experience was fantastic from start to finish, I genuinely recommend it to everyone~ 🌿 Environment The whole place was clean, tidy, and cozy. The public areas were meticulously maintained, and the hallways were quiet and odor-free. The room had amazing natural light, a comfortable view, and good soundproofing, so I could get a peaceful, undisturbed rest after a long day out. 🛏️ Room Amenities The bedding was soft and skin-friendly, and the mattress was just the right firmness—I slept straight through the night! The bathroom had a dry/wet separation, hot water came out quickly, and the toiletries were high quality. The air conditioning, WiFi, and charging ports all worked great, meeting all my daily needs. As someone who pays attention to details, I was super satisfied. 💰 Value for Money Compared to other places of similar quality in the same area, the price was incredibly fair! New facilities, excellent hygiene, and attentive service—you get a high-quality experience without breaking the bank. Students and workers, just book it without hesitation; the value for money is absolutely legendary.

SSarah F. AdamI recently stayed at Borneo Beach Villa, and overall, it was a lovely experience. The villa offers a stunning sunset view right by the beach—absolutely breathtaking and perfect for a relaxing evening. The rooms are spacious, clean, and well-maintained, providing a comfortable and peaceful stay. The staff were very helpful and friendly, always ready to assist with any requests, which made the experience even more pleasant. However, one drawback was that the lift at Block B wasn’t functioning properly, which was a bit inconvenient, especially when carrying luggage. Despite that minor issue, Borneo Beach Villa remains a great choice for anyone seeking a quiet seaside getaway with beautiful views and warm hospitality. The sunset alone makes it worth the visit.
