JJon LiangWe stayed at Pyhalinna and overall found the apartment itself to be decent. The facilities inside the unit were quite complete and convenient. However, the cleanliness was disappointing — the bed sheets were not clean when we arrived. The funny (and slightly frustrating) part was that after we reported it, someone came to do a light cleaning of the room (even though we were previously told mid-stay cleaning required an extra fee), but the sheets still weren’t changed.
The property is ski-in/ski-out and located next to the “family slope,” but there are many areas that really need improvement. First of all, for beginners without a car, it takes around 30 minutes to walk down to the base area to rent equipment(experienced can use the shop on the mountain), and the path is quite unsafe. Honestly, this alone almost made me give a one-star review. Secondly, the so-called family slope wasn’t fully open, and the upper section was surprisingly steep — definitely not what we expected for a family-friendly run. Returning the rental equipment was also inconvenient; you must ski all the way to the bottom because the shop on the mountain doesn’t accept returns.
After returning our equipment, we were very lucky that the ski patrol officer Markus kindly offered to take us back up the hotel. We really appreciated his help — without him, it would have been another long and difficult walk.
There are simply many practical issues that should be improved. I truly hope the resort can learn from more established ski destinations to create a safer and more beginner-friendly experience.
The positive interactions with the staff were the main reason we didn’t give this place a one-star rating — they truly made a difference despite the other issues. Really thank you, Coach Joni, Peter, Markus, Joonathan and the other staff I didn’t get your name.
PPhunKEEThe location is smack right in the heart of town Center. There is a mall opposite, a Chinese restaurant beside and a walking 5 min to Santa town office. Not to mention bus stop is just 1 min walk. There is no better place to be sleeping in rovaniemi. Part of the Europe regulation; there are no disposal amenities . So if you want a room slipper, better bring your own else you will be walking in cold floor. Breakfast is sufficient. Nothing fancy, but above the average hotel with choice of balls, cold cuts, fruit and pastries . Didn’t manage to see the gym nor sauna as was busy out looking at Santa’s creation.
AAnonymous UserIt was a wonderful 3 nights stay in the lovely town of Rovaniemi. The hotel is located in the city center, which makes dining and shopping and getting around anywhere super convenient. The train station is also a short 5 minutes drive away. My room was clean, cosy, spacious and tastefully designed. Love the Finnish sauna; we went everyday! Also the breakfast spread was super lovely; love the crayfish salad. The hotel also uses Iittala and Marimekko tableware in the breakfast buffet as well as in the room. I love the Iittala cup they used in the room so much that I bought 2 for my house! Totally recommend this hotel if you visit Rovaniemi!
GGuest UserThe location of this hotel is superb! For the strategic location of this hotel by the river I would say YES to this hotel anytime.
But feedback to the hotel to improve are:
- House Keeping need to buck up a bit, I geddit it is peak period in Dec and it is tough to clean the room but still..
- Considering the room I stayed is newly renovated, the toilet is just too small- especially the sink!! Smaller than the one in the airplane.
- Reception services are nice and friendly but just too slow.. I geddit that it is peak,, all the more they need to speed up
TTan SMThe Glass Igloo was great but you have to walk to the guesthouse for your showers. The breakfast was great and the restaurant provided good options for lunch and breakfast. For the adventurous, you can go to the nearby supermarket and cook your meal in the sheltered fireplace. Don't forget to experience either the traditional or the electrical sauna during your stay! Most importantly, participate in the guided activities with hot drinks and roasted sausages such as husky sled rides, aurora hunting, and ice skating.
DDohyeon SeongWe visited for our honeymoon.
The staff, Viljami, welcomed us kindly and provided us with fruit and other services. Thank you.
Although the location is a little far from the city center, it was not inconvenient because I took an Uber when I traveled anyway.
It's not a top-of-the-line facility, but it's a cost-effective place in Rovaniemi, where the accommodation is expensive.
However, breakfast did not meet expectations.
ZZuiaijizhoukaorouThe hotel is forty minutes away from the Levi ski resort. The check-in front desk is next to the white church. It is said that new people hold a ceremony here every week. Each single-family villa is surrounded by trees, and the privacy is good. At night, the glass in the small wooden roof can see the starry sky. When you are lucky, the aurora there is clear and clear. In the morning, you open the floor-to-ceiling curtains. The snow scene outside the wide viewing angle is super dreamy. Go to the former staff to respond positively to the email, the chef, Christmas dinner is also very good. Have the opportunity to come back and choose here.
AAnonymous UserThe family room was very nice, but the fifth person was considered an extra bed and slept on a sofa. The hotel ground floor was great for watching the Northern Lights, and we saw them that night. There seemed to be a sauna in the bathroom, but we didn't try it as we didn't know how to use it. The hotel breakfast was an English breakfast, and the hotel entrance offered views of the ski resort.
WWai LikThe front desk of the hotel is very friendly. The environment and facilities are very good. It is close to the street and is very convenient. There is a bus to Santa Claus Village near the hotel. It is very convenient. The hotel's breakfast is very rich. Highly recommended.
