Was really impressed with the palace hotel. The grounds look stunning as we arrived. The hotels grand entrance was beautiful and the lady on reception was very welcoming. The decor throughout was amazing. The rooms were lovely and clean with everything you could need, coffee, tea, iron, hairdryer etc. Lovely staff couldn't do enough for us. Thanks for a lovely stay.

I stayed at the Leonardo Hotel Derby while attending a workshop at the Derby Museum. Its location is excellent, being merely a few minutes' walk from the venue. The hotel was clean and pleasantly quiet at night, allowing for a restful sleep—a welcome change from the often disruptive air-conditioning in other hotels. Furthermore, Derby town centre is only a five-minute walk away, offering opportunities for shopping, dining, or leisurely strolls.

Lovely location, (pretty village) lovely grounds and impressive entrance. However, we weren’t in the main hotel. The room was large but old fashioned. The roof sloped at the sides which we banged our heads on several times. The window was small which made it stuffy and it was very dark, no main light in the bedroom only lamps. Bed was king size and comfortable. The room and bathroom was clean. We used the restaurant once for dinner and we had 2 breakfasts and the food was nice and reasonable priced. Breakfast was self service (as ours was included) with a good and plentiful variety. The staff were friendly and helpful but professional. We didn’t use the pool in the end as it meant going outside and back inside, as our room was not connected to a covered route to the pool.
Nothing really to complain about but we did expect the room to be a bit more luxurious. Slightly overpriced for the room. I expect the price was based on the available amenities.

From the outside, the hotel makes a charming first impression with its elegant façade, ornate balconies, and a warmly lit lobby that exudes a sense of old-world charm. The check-in process is smooth, and the staff are courteous and eager to help.
The room was clean and spacious, the décor is a bit dated but it adds a character to the place and I like it. The only small issue was, there’s no window only a door to the balcony which is locked and we cannot access it making the room stuffy.
Also, it was difficult to relax or get a good night’s sleep due to a noise of exhaust fan in the bathroom throughout the night.
The bed was comfortable and having an iron was a bonus.
Will I stay again? Definitely.

We stayed for 1 night for a special occasion. On arrival we were told that the spa was closed for an event which was very disappointing as I booked this hotel because of the spa & had planned to use the pool & sauna. This should gave been communicated at the time of booking. The building and grounds were impressive but on arrival our featured superior room was freezing cold. The reception turned on the heating at our request but this should have been done hours before our arrival given that it was 8 degrees outside. We sat for an hour in the room with our coats on before asking for a portable heater due to the radiators being only lukewarm. The room never really got warm & when we came back from dinner at 9.15 the heating had been turned off again & we had to ask for it to be turned on again. The food in the restaurant was very good & the servers were lovely but unorganised. We planned to have a drink in the hotel bar but it was so cold that it was empty and not comfortable to stay. I heard kore than one staff member complain about the cold in the hotel. What could have been a very pleasant stay was spoiled by the cold. Unfortunately, we will not return.

I didn't book the old hall, but this one is really good. The cleanliness and comfort of the room is my most important. The decoration is red classical style. There is a wedding atmosphere under the floor.

The casa is a very nice hotel to stay in. Check in quick and efficient and courteous staff as always. Plenty of parking spaces on site.
Room has air conditioning and a good bath room with power shower. Tea and coffee available with a mini fridge for milk and water included.
We had booked breakfast but completely forgot breakfast finished at 9am on a monday.
I'm hoping that maybe next time we may be able to use this feature. Though to be fair we should have ordered to the room the night before for a small £5.
A enjoyable stay nothing more to add.

Lower Holly Barn is a luxurious self-contained cottage situated amongst rolling fields, woodlands and beautiful views yet only 5 mins drive from the town of Matlock. This is the place to come and unwind from hectic everyday life. Guests can enjoy beautiful walks from the doorstep, make use of the gym, bowling green and Summer house. The location is perfect for visiting many of the stately homes, Peak national Park and quaint villages in the area.The holiday cottage is located on Hearthstone Farm in a converted barn which is now a livery yard with a few sheep (lawn mowers!) in the surrounding fields. The cottage itself comprises of 3 rooms, a large well equipped sitting room with kitchenette within, a large shower room and the bedroom. To one side of the cottage there are lawned areas with a bistro table and chairs for your morning coffee and to the other side a bowling green/putting green and use of the Summer house for your afternoon snooze! Our cottage comfortably sleeps 4 people.You can start many beautiful walks in the Peak District National Park literally from our doorstep via Sunny Bank Lane & onto the Limestone Way. Or alternatively you are close to one of the most beautiful places in the Peak District - the Monsal Trail which is a traffic free 8.5 mile wheelchair friendly former old railway line a favourite for cyclists too.The Horse & Jockey pub is approximately 150 steps away from our back door. The bus stop is very close to us going into Buxton/Bakewell/Castleton/ Sheffield. Cherry Tree Cafe is literally a stones throw away from us and in the village we have a CO-OP, local bakery & Post Office. We have four tea rooms all serving great food & a posh restaurant for that special occasion. GGuest UserWhat a great hotel. Every member of staff I encountered was well trained and knew exactly how to engage guests and ensure their visit was exactly as they wanted it to be. From entering the hotel and breathing in the most beautiful fragrance to immaculate well designed rooms - plug and USB sockets built into the bed frame! I wish I had been able to try the spa - next time! I was supposed to get to the hotel earlier and had a table booked, but I was delayed so I had to cancel it - the menu looks amazing and certainly worth a visit for that alone. The buffet breakfast was plentiful with the usual English breakfast items, an assortment of continental options (fruit, salami and the like) and tea and filter coffee, refilled by the attentive restaurant team. I wish I lived closer so I could go to some of the special events they put on in here. Just check out the hotel website to see what I mean.

TTommi McCormickVery nice experience, everyone friendly. Rooms looked newly renovated and clean. Only downside was the pool and sauna was closed down and no longer available, trip photos show pool and spa but be warned this is now close for the foreseeable future.
