This place is really lovely. We were very surprised to see the hotel had a utility room which includes sink, towels, toilet rolls, iron with ironing board, tea coffee hot chocolate, milk and sugar. Plates knifes forks spoons and bowels. In the room we had a very comfortable bed, tea coffee hot chocolate milk and biscuits. A microwave. Plates ect. Extra pillows and bedding. It had a big bathroom. It was very clean and decorated beautiful. So if your staying in Yeovil I highly recommend this place. My partner went for breakfast and he said it was just the job full English, cereal fruit toast and yogurt.

The Drayton Crown

As experienced Brit Stop members, we thought this sounded like an 'off the beaten track' country pub making an ideal place to park our camper for the night and enjoy a wholesome meal from a varied menu. Yes, it is down a couple of lanes and we parked in a quiet & spacious car park, but wait for it...we were extremely disappointed with the minimal, uninspiring menu & the prices but we were hungry! Not being chip lovers we both chose the sausage & mash despite it being served with just marrow & gravy at £15+ per head, it had to be cooked to a special recipe, after all you can do a lot with marrow. At least it was served quickly but with no phone signal we could not take a photo. So imagine an average bowl shaped plate with two table spoons of mash in the middle with a small serving of gravy(no pieces of onion)on top and two slim sausages on top of that. The marrow which was actually two very thin slices of a large courgette(a marrow is much bigger) was placed underneath the mash, unseen and uncooked! An unadvertised service charge was added to the bill, so we paid and left, still feeling a bit hungry.
The Old Pound Inn

What a lovely place! The Old Pound is a village pub with superior accommodation offering outstandingly excellent food. The clientele is eclectic and the car park is likely to have everything from Bentleys to builder's vans. Certainly it is well patronised by locals as well as visitors. The atmosphere in the cosy public bar is overwhelmingly friendly with considerable convivial interaction between the locals and the tourists. Adjoining the bar is a pleasant little enclosed beer garden. There is a newly built or refurbished accommodation unit of seven rooms. Bar prices are local pub level, and actually less expensive than most with pints of real ale at well under £4.00. It is also a CAMRA pub with well celared craft beers, offering good discounts to CAMRA members. The accommodation. Our room was well furnished with tea/coffee making facilities and an ensuite bath/shower. The bed was amongst the most comfortable my partner and I have enjoyed - and of a size which could have easily accommodated Snow White and a considerable proportion of her entourage in addition to ourselves - though I must point out that no fairytale characters were molested during our stay! The restaurant. Offering a good selection of mostly locally sourced, home cooked produce prepared to very high standards - including even the very few bought-in items such as spring rolls, etc. The portions are gargantuan, and on one memorable occasion, involving locally made faggots and gravy, defeated even my extreme appetite. Honourable mention must be made of the sausages served with the enormous breakfast. They were quite outstanding in texture and flavour, so much so that I was moved to negotiate for extras on the second morning! All in all an epicurean delight. I can't recommend the Old Pound highly enough, and we shall most definitely be returning - probably on a regular basis.
The Kings Arms Inn

This review is for the stay and breakfast only, I have posted another review for my evening meal. First off, this is a beautiful location, some parking around the back and the staff here are friendly and attentive. The room is dated a bit, the room I had (#6) was on the ground floor which was pretty small with no cupboard space but that wasn't an issue for me. The bathroom looked newer than the room and everything inside was what I needed. The shower wasn't the most powerful but it did the job. Utilities There was free WiFi which was needed as you don't get a signal, the room was a good temperature and the TV (Sharp) worked well if a little too high on the wall. Towels presented nicely on the bed on arrival and tea's/coffee and a kettle in the room. Iron board you had to locate and bring to your room. Unfortunately I have some negative comments. - There was dust around the room. - I could hear the people walking around and chatting above me. Luckily they didn't move much during the night. - The window was missing a piece for the catch. - The pillows were quite thin. - Worst of all unfortunately was the bed, The mattress was so worn I could feel all the springs, this is probably the main reason people book a room and should be the main thing to get right. Breakfast was brilliant, again friendly service and a really tasty meal with excellent coffee. Printer was down on checkout but the invoice was kindly sent to me. I am saddened to score this place so low on my stay as I really did like the location and the staff. I am not sure if the other rooms are better, I could overlook everything else but the mattress for me puts me off a repeat stay.

The hotel room is small and the fixtures , windows & furniture are old fashioned. Nevertheless they look clean and usable. The table fan was very cute The WiFi is intermittent and very slow. Ample car park and everything is accessible.
